After releasing several EP on Accents Records, ARTS, and Diffuse Reality. Pablo Diarra aka Saïph launches his own label Songe Anima records (Sonam rec) with this first release Griffe Sonam EP.

The EP's surprising influences include techno, contemporary trance and ambient, with acoustic recordings drums somewhere between, Afrobeat, jazz and Maracatu, and colder textured pads. This EP feels both grounded and ethereal.

The whole low-end spectrum stares us in a very dub-like direction, the snare, Rim, hats game is as swift as it is aerial, while the electro sound design elements take us, through experimental effect, into a vast, hushed soundscape.

The EP can't be summed up in a single musical style, and explores musical universes we've rarely heard together. The resulting unity is a mature, rhythmically complex sound, an insider's music that's easy to access because it's so danceable.

'After Trane'is an explicit tribute to John Coltrane. Here, the main lead evokes a sound somewhere between trumpet, flute and organ. Its polyrhythmic tangle with a second lead to the 5th can evoke a Balkan fanfare, a Celtic ritornello, West African chants, or even an Oriental dimension; there's something quite universal about this appearance; whose main characteristic is to produce a trance effect. The closing solo may evoke something of Joe Zawinul, and in some aspects takes the allure of a Coltranian pastiche in its articulation. You'll even recognize a brief citation of the Impressions theme, breaking through the mix and setting the track on fire at 5''33.

After his live performance for the Riotvan label at Annalinde last week Leipzig's in-demand artist Panthera Krause continues the musical hotness with his contribution to the art:cast series. Therefore Robert, Panthera Krause's real name, delivers 52 minutes of disco-ish, groovey and housey music skilfully compiled and mixed as if the Leipzig creative were heavily influenced by the feel-good vibes the apparently starting summer holds for one. Art:cast #88 contains melodical catchy moments combined with saxy vocals and musically flows like an easy highway ride on a Sunday. Panthera Krause's contribution to the art:cast series resembles the artist's current musical output, high-quality still diverse in the selection of who he remixed, and Panthera Krause did quite a few remixes over the past months, namely he reworked Coma's Spiracles, Johannes Albert's 1-800-Piano, Kasper Bjørke's Venetian Binds, Benjamin Fröhlich's Memory FM or Mr Tea's Working With Animals, additionally he released his album It's A Business Doing Please With You on his co-run label Riotvan. Welcome to Robert's world, welcome to his music, welcome to one of the scene's present favorites at all musical levels.

Hailing from the Rhein-Main area Philipp Lauer provides the scene with top-class music under several aliases or with various projects. Under the Tuff City moniker Philipp produces music with Running Back head-honcho Gerd Janson, while for the Black Spuma project Lauer teams up with Fabrizio Mammarella and then there is Philipp doing music as Lauer and releases music on renowned labels such as Permanent Vacation, Live At Robert Johnson, Futureboogie Recordings, Cin Cin or Running Back. In all modesty those labels have defined the history of electronic dance music  over the past one or two decades. An influence that cannot be denied but can rather be found in Lauer's own music or DJ sets. Speaking of the latter, the charming Frankfurt boy, or the DJ from the speckgürtel, compiled the latest art:cast taking the listener from disco to disco with a dubby start to create an overall heterogeneous composition that soaks you into its vibe from start to finish.
