Rene Wise has only been in the game a short time though his network and output hint differently. A drummer from the age of seven, his intuitive ear naturally turned digital and has been catching the attention of industry heads in recent years. Bassiani Podcast 92 is a perfect exemplar for his sound: primal, anarchic and groovy, the fluent brand of techno with which the fresh-faced Brightonian has rightfully earned his stripes.

A Sunday afternoon delight from two of techno's most beloved heavy-hitters arrives exclusively on our Soundcloud.

Berlin techno viking and founder of Dystopian Records Rødhåd and the young, accomplished and Mote-Evolver regular Rene Wise have released their 4 hour set recording from March 2023, a huge B2B session that saw the pair delve in and out of eachother’s company for our last Continuum party. They played an extended set during the final Continuum 24+hour party of the season this Spring. 

The session, which started at 4pm as the tail end of the afternoon drew in and went on til 8pm ahead of a closing set from Ben Klock and Marcel Dettmann, proved to be one of our highlights from the event. It's a real treat to be able to share the full recording; smashers from the get-go that takes us through the hard and heavy, to the atmospheric and energetic.

Lock in below and transport to the incomparable energy of Room 1 on a Sunday afternoon. Sometimes, we reckon, there's no place like it.

Wise portrays a deep sense of knowledge and maturity in his sound, devising atmospheric soundscapes with a raw but modern touch, captivating the listener from beginning to end. Before discovering the world of electronic music, Wise came from a background of drum and percussion which was guided by his Iranian father who was a professional drummer. This influence plays a huge part in shaping the foundation of techno that he crafts.

Wise’s 'quality over quantity’ mindset has seen him become a mainstay on influential labels such as Mote Evolver and BluePrint which has led him to work with some of the most respected names in the industry. His pure but passionate approach to music has given him the honour of gracing institutions such as Berghain and Fabric and earned him a residency at the esteemed underground Eerste Communie parties hailing from The Netherlands.

Real name “Andrew Shobeiri” has been making some immense progress within the industry so far. With only 2 years on the professional circuit this talented young artist as managed to do some things only other artists can dream of.

With two outstanding releases on Luke Slaters infamous "Mote Evolver" label, as well as two unforgettable shows at Berlin’s world renounced Berghain. Whilst managing to gain the attention of some the best in the scene. But its well deserved for this passionate producer, Spending hundreds of hours carefully creating his unique sound which is infectious with rhythm and pure groove. His dedication and commitment to the music really speaks for it self. Since his arrival he has managed to maintain and adapt to challenging demand of the industry. In return he has been able to travel internationally showcase his sound as far as South Africa and many others places. 

On this episode i asked Rene about his journey so far and what it’s taken for him to get to the top of his game in such a short period of time. Plus he had contributed a guest mix that will dance you through to the early early hours.

2018 saw the UK-born DJ/producer leaving a strong impression. A dig- ital EP on Mark Broom’s Beardman imprint and his first official 12’ inch release on the highly respected Mote-Evolver, run by techno pioneer Luke Slater, gained huge reactions from the likes of Rødhad, Freddy K, Blawan and DVS1. The high level of support has continued into 2019, with white label tracks featuring in sets from Kr!z & Dustin Zahn, among others.

On the road Wise has made regular appearances at Jaded, London’s Sunday after-hours haven while his Berghain sets have undoubtedly grabbed the attention of the committed Berlin reveler. The remainder of 2019 keeps this young talent busy, with bookings spanning the UK, Europe and, South Africa with more releases set to drop across the next coming months.
