This is a set that was performed at the 'Packbackers' to open the Town Festival in Licola Victoria in 2022. The concept was to play 14 songs from around the world that represented the cool vibes that they are repping, on an oversized Iphone and UE Boom (Because that is how you DJ in a Backpakers Dream World). We had bunkbeds and backpackers getting up to mischief, we had goon bags dancing and the festival erupted into an awesome time. And we deserve it all, I tell ya

Burn night at Kiwiburn [ Burning Man NZ ] was such a vibe. . . and a blur. I played a 2.5hr evening set at Creature Lab, danced for a bit, had a nap, woke up at midnight and launched straight into a 1.5hr improv/freestyle set at The Closet. So much fun, but having planned nothing and just woken up, the first 30mins was slightly hectic as I felt into the crowd, played around with the vibe and found my groove. Here's the last 60mins as we bounce around genres and get darker and heavier.

We're thrilled to welcome back tune aficionado and beatsmith J-Slyde with another brilliant mix... this time it's a live recording from his set on Chill Island @ Esoteric 2023...

Here's what he had to say about the set...

"I find chill sets the most un-chill set to plan for. I always begin with lofty aspirations, amassing a huge bucket of music that travels through BPM, genre and style, with the idea that it will all somehow come together on game day.

As I began work on piecing together this set, I was reminded that they never just "come together".

But that's a big part of why they end up being so special.

Then being offered a platform as beautiful as Esoteric's Chill Island to play such a set, further helping to make things that much sweeter.

It also played part of a 4-hour breathe. showcase, with Simon on beforehand. Big thanks to him for trusting me with such an honour!

The mix is loosely split into 3 chapters which cover lo-fi house, trip-hop, hip-hop, electronica, progressive breaks, lots of weird beats & breaks, some garage, a cheeky slathering of dnb and an amen break for good measure. All as cohesively as I could mix them together.

Entelechy's Summer Soiree is an Organic-Afro-Acid-Deep-Minimal-Melodic-Techno-and-House-inspired mix that aims to illuminate the essence of a Sultry Summer Night, an Adventurous Summer day, or anytime higher energy Afro House would be fitting. A pleasure and an honor to join Moontribe for the October edition of FMG out in the desert. It was my first time playing (talk about nerves, lol) after attending and learning so much from the MT crew for years. Their 30-year history has had a huge influence on me - my sound, my musical path, the events I throw - in countless ways and I was grateful to join this lineup for a Halloween celebration.
