It’s a playful and uplifting mixture of obscure French tracks from the 70s and 80s that takes in a wide range of styles, scenes and tempos. From proper proto electro-tinged numbers through to some amazing synth-poppy vibes, it flows seamlessly from hi-nrg disco and post punk funk to smooth reggae and lover’s rock with tonnes of fun in between and beyond. This mix that Sacha has generously provided, Special French, is the perfect party starter and should prove to be suitably entertaining. More rusty and hypnotic sounds are brought by DJ soFa and his newest compilation, Elsewhere LVI. Released on Emotional Response, the 4th compilation of SoFa’s series is meant to move us to the gloomier part of his 12 track travelogue.
Lamusa II and his track Artificiale moves organic sound waves accompanying them with rhythmic shady synth pads, turning our listening journey to somewhat uneasy, yet fascinating trip across the jungle of sleazy and meditative notes.  Elsewhere LVI will come out on Emotional Response.

If New York’s Roxy nightclub emerged from the colourful blocks of Brazil, there's no doubt these tracks would be the carnival sound clash heard on hard rotation. Brooklyn percussionist Eugene Tambourine, aka The Lemko Unlimited Orchestra, has created new renditions of disco hits, giving them the rhythmic going over they didn’t know they needed. It’s the artist’s tale of NYC clubbing in the 1980’s, infused with a raucous, fiery Latin attitude. A package expertly mixed by Darshan Jesrani.

‘Pathways’ is a mashup, interpolating hooks from Fingers Inc’s ‘A Path’ in clever combinations with Ralph Macdonald’s much sampled ‘The Path.’

You’ll no doubt recognise ‘K.G.E.T.’ from the original ‘K-Jee’ funk bomb by The Nite-Liters in 1971, later covered famously by MFSB. Eugene updates the tune with disco-era style, flowing live and carrying the torch onwards from the bands back in the day.

Stripped back ‘Versions’ have been recorded of both tracks, giving you raw drums & acidic brawn. These are dj dubs focused on the dance floor, the real deal from The Lemko Unlimited Orchestra on Balearic.

The Lemko Unlimited Orchestra - Pathways / K.G.E.T.

French-based label La Bestiole Records back with another release of dancefloor-ready jams with influences from around the world. 

Previous releases have been played by some great names in the DJ game : MCDE, Or:la, Waxist, Zaltan, Jacques Renault, Flegon, Red Greg, Barbara Boeing, Lego Edit...

With this one, the label continues to blur the line between edit and production, with two tracks by Italian-born and Barcelona-based pacific bureau on the A-side, and three tracks by label head Baerlz on the B-side.

BEST005 begins with “Time of Lovers”, a delicate house take based on Japanese chopped samples. A2 is the very energetic and funky “Untitled (Versione Veloce)”, turning a synthpop song into a fast ghetto house tune.
B-side continues the ghetto feeling (but with a romantic r’n’b touch) with “Ankileichen Part 1”, then goes dirty with “Soul Mayo”, a mix between jazzy piano riffs and hard beats. Last track “Baerdz” gives a deep and subtle end to the EP, with harp glissandi invoquing bird flight.

As always with the label, some funky locked grooves complete this limited vinyl only release, mastered & cut by legendary Simon Davey from The Exchange.
