Gavilán Rayna Russom remains one of the most pivotal figures in experimental, electronic and underground music culture. She has come a long way from the glory days of LCD Soundsystem having firmly established her own identity and musical trajectory having since gone on to release material on the likes of LIES Records, Lux Rec and Ecstatic amongst others. 

However, arguably her greatest achievement and success has come in the form of her own record label Voluminous Arts upon which she has released a wealth of her own material which focusses on an alternative, boundary pushing pathway towards future discovery and expression. It is here in which she is free to do as she pleases and focus her own creative perspectives. Earlier this year she released an album under the guise of Black Meteoric Star and there's plenty more to come. 

In celebration of this we asked Rayna to record a mixtape which showcases the nature of the imprint, a chance for her to display the music she has released and offer insight into what might come next.

We kick off our November month with the always astonishing modular synth guru Gabo Barranco, also known as AAAA. He is a Mexican electronic music producer and performer, who works with an out of the box approach. Barranco’s work is driven by analogue hardware, creating intense music pieces, varying from melancholic melodious ambient to undeniably heavy acid assaults.

His discography consists of a wide spectrum of explorations released by fresh and cutting-edge record labels such as Danny Daze' Omnidisc, his LP "Runts" on the Berlin based Acid Test, "Anorak" on Jack Dept., a split EP with Soul Edifice on Acid Avengers (with an absolutely banging artwork we might add) and some of his earlier work on DRVG CVLTVRE's New York Haunted while also collaborating with visionaries like Tin Man (under their DOVS alias).

Over the better part of the last decade has been a part of events such as MUTEK MX & SF, III Points Festival Miami, Berghain, Freedom17, Institut fuer Zukunft, Comunite, Red Bull Music Academy Montreal and been a part of several events with his EXT crew. Also be sure to check out his cosmic haul through a hardware-frenzied performance at Boiler Room's Mexico City edition.

Radial is the techno moniker of Jeroen Liebregts, originally from The Netherlands today residing in Barcelona, Spain. 
Jeroen has been dj'ing since around '98 and picked up music production soon after. Since 2002 Jeroen teamed up with Bas Mooy and started the label Audio Assault as a platform for their own work and that of artists whose work they admire. About a year later sublabel Arms was born. In 2014 his own brand new imprint Radial Records sees the light of day with the release of Crux, the second full length Radial album.

Always driven to dive deeper Jeroen started a 4-year studies of Sonology at the Conservatory in The Hague, which he finished in 2006. This study deals with electronic music composition, computer programming, analog synthesis and electronic instrument design among other things. This is probably what kickstarted his interest to use self designed instruments in his music. The constant quest for new technological approaches is an imported factor that helped shape his sound. His current tendency toward analog hardware based methods also resulted in his involvement in the design and development of the Synton Fenix modular synthesizer.

Over the years the music of Jeroen Liebregts has found it's way to many places using different aliases (Radial, Museum, Finder, Sinecure). There have been releases of original tracks and remixes on labels such as Token, Perc Trax, Mote-Evolver, Numb, Drumcode, Planet Rhythm, Dole-Gate and most recently Mord and MDR.

Matriarch All-Hardware Live Cirklon Techno Session [audio only]

Benjamin Damage is an innovative UK techno artist, the first artist signed to Berlin’s legendary 50Weapons label and the last to release an album at its closure. This period produced three critically acclaimed albums and many EPs, drawing from diverse sources to help define the crossover UK / Berlin techno sound.

As well as two, highly charged four-tracks for Len Faki’s Figure label and ‘Deep Space Transit’ on ARTS, Benjamin put out two stinging dance floor cuts as BDB, a secret collab with label mates, Feel My Bicep. A live-recorded cut for Jeff Mill’s Axis Records was released this year. 

Performing on an all-hardware setup, Benjamin’s storming live performances have lit up the best clubs and festivals all around the world. The powerful setup has been fully redeveloped for 2021.
