We had an overflowing full house as the community gathered to sing, dance, cry and laugh for the last Charity Chanting Concert at the Yoga Forest with Hayley and Jaya as the owners.

In the two days after our sweet boy Barkley left us, the tsunami of grief felt really unbearable ... and every effort I made to put these experiences and feelings into words felt utterly futile. The only way to channel this grief without succumbing to the void left in my heart was to sit in my studio and pour this mourning into music ... and thus this sketch of a ballad for him emerged. 

The working title is "Farewell Sweet Boy." 

It is said that the grief we feel when we lose a loved one is commensurate with the love in which we held them while they were still with us. My hope is that both the grief and the love - or, to use Martin Prechtel's words, the grief and praise - that I felt for Barkley come across with this offering.

And, for those of you who may be grieving, may it provide at least a brief shelter from the storm ... my love - and Barkley's - goes out to you all.
