In late March 2016 Ben’s brother (Jeremy) tragically took his own life. “Goodbye Alcohol” is a song dedicated to all those who fight everyday of their lives to rid themselves from the effects of the disease. Jeremy fought bravely for close to a decade. He wanted to be an addictions counselor. “Goodbye Alcohol” is a song based on a journal entry that Jeremy recently wrote in rehab under the same title. “It’s a breakup song,” says Ben. “When you break up with someone or something it’s so hard, but at the same time the breakup can grant you tremendous freedom if you let it. Jeremy knew he wanted to say goodbye to the addiction. Unfortunately, Alcoholism can be incredibly co-dependent. The fight is everyday and sometimes it can be literally unbearable. To break a co-dependent relationship- you simply have to dig deep to find more of yourself. God knows you and as you come to know him better- you will in turn know yourself better and your unique mission here on this earth. Don’t give up!”

This is a song written in my brothers memory. On March 2016, he died by suicide. "I Believe" was created using a poem my brother wrote about life and what it means to live. The orchestration in this song was written and performed by the talented Maria Grig from Russia. This song is dedicated to all my dear suicide survivors. I hope that this song can help save lives and give meaning to life.

I BELIEVE

This song was written shortly after my brother Jeremy died by suicide. Within days after his passing his spirit came and enveloped both me and my wife at 4am In the morning. It was at this time that I pictured my brothers face in my mind and heard him say: “I’m happy-everything is going to be ok.” The song also talks about a message that was given to our family by a woman who has a spiritual gift to communicate with those who have passed to the other side. She told us that my brother had spoken to her and told her to relay this message to my family: “It’s Not O.K. That I died by suicide, but it’s o.k. because of the Atonement of Jesus Christ.”

I wrote this song about my brother shortly after he passed. I talk about how adventurous he was and how he was so gifted at bringing the world "to life in pictures." He was an exceptional videographer. I named the song "Heaven's Angel" because he has now been set free to watch over all of us in heaven. As he heals our hearts and smiles from above- we are left with his guiding influence for the rest of our lives. I truly believe he is with me even stronger now.....as I sing about him and share his message of hope and healing to all who will listen. R.I.P.- Jer

Heaven's Angel

"The OceanMaker" is a animated short film written and directed by Lucas Martell. The film is based in a post-apocalyptic world where all bodies of water have disappeared and the only source of water has to come from the clouds. In this scene, Katrina, who is a pilot and the protagonist of the story, is wounded after her fight to protect the Earth from sky pirates who are contaminating the air. Katrina realizes that the only way to save the world from drought is to sacrifice her life.

This cue was written during my attendance at the 2018 Palomar Film Music Workshop. I had the honor of working with composers Larry Groupe, Roger Neil and Steve Thomas as well as many talented and extraordinary composers during my time there. The score was recorded at Studio West in San Diego, California by Los Angeles studio musicians and members of the San Diego Symphony and Pacific Symphony.
