Gdanian presents us his third album on Cryo Chamber. Mechanical Gods is a deep subterranean journey ripe with robotic basslines and tech-ritualism within an atmospheric framework

…When we entered The Below World, we found the human inhabitants divided into subnormal primal groupings of savage and superstitious tribes who collectively worshipped the machines that oppressed them. Sacrificial offerings of living martyrs were made to the Mechanica in order to appease them of their remorseless and emotionless rancour.

The humans had resorted to primeval idolatry behaviours that put them in awe of the undiminishing energy source of the Plasner System—a great churning ball of heat and light that pulsated over them in the upper echelons of the principal chamber. It became clear to us, meanwhile, that they had lost all awareness of the overground world and that, for them, the limits of the universe were confined to the depths of their subterranean enclosure.

I just added a 808 kick and played bass. Most satisfying and less time consuming on the lot, but I don’t think it works, a 4th (soloist) part is needed IMHO.

I spent the morning adding my third element to a few tracks and finally decided that my contribution to encym and Jimmy Lem's combo was the most coherent. I was struck by the contrasting tones of encym's off kilter Tele with the controlled chaos of Jimmy's cuatro. Sandwiched in between are some sparse tones from my Terra, fed through the "Vangelis Verb" on the Zoia.

I added a bit of static to CoralineAda’s and Leon Clowes’ mezmerizing duo as an attempt to heighten the tension of the “missed connection” implied by the vocal sample. The static was created with the Landscape Stereofield and tamed somewhat by one of Hainbach’s presets for the Zoia.

The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 - Chapter IV & V - Score Excerpts

Benny Oschmann was born in 1987 in Kassel, Germany. He took professional trumpet and piano lessons from an early age and played in numerous orchestras and ensembles.

After high-school Benny studied music theory and composition at the Academy of Music Kassel and graduated with an A-grade.

In 2009 he joined Dynamedion as a composer and orchestrator.

In 2013 Benny won an Aggie Award in the category Best music for his soundtrack to The Raven – Legacy of a Master Thief.

He was part of the jury for the 2nd German Game Music Awards in 2014.

In 2015 he won the acclaimed German Game Developer Award in the category Best sound for his soundtrack for The Book of Unwritten Tales 2. In the same year his music was recorded with the Hollywood Studio Symphony in the world-famous Warner Bros. Eastwood Scoring Stage.
