Nicepeople have released some serious players in the past couple of years, from established legends like Orlando Voorn and Boo Williams through to newer talents like Khadeeja Grace and Soulvibe Inc. Now it's the turn of Giuseppe Scarano and Gourmet De Funk to lay down the deep house mission in a classic New York style - just listen to 'Gotta Move (GFD Party Stompin' Mix)' and you'll know what we mean. The sampling alone nods to Big Apple legend Pal Joey, while the sax-licked groove has a MAW vibe to die for. The quality keeps up across this record, leaving you with some forthright garage house pieced together with knowledge and flai.

Alejandro Mosso pushes onwards on the exploration of deep groove, consistently showcasing a distinct brand of uniquely musical club production. Each new project effortlessly balanced the innovative and timeless, and it's a journey we've seen first hand at XYZ. The Argentine maestro has developed into a pillar of the imprint in recent years through his several EPs and remix projects.

As the dial turns on the dog days of summer, Mosso returns to the XYZ fold for one of his deepest offerings yet - the Archipelago EP. The A-side is a crisp cut built upon Alejandro’s sensational knack for percussive rhythms & linear arrangements. Soaring synthetics keep the mind wandering, while a sub-laden bassline takes care of the feet. A blissful groover from Mosso.

Meandro continues to provide sturdy rhythmic mastery, whipping us into two-step as rising melodics propel ethereal energy. Playfully revolving hooks ebb & flow throughout this unpredictable and punchy B-side, offering a tool for the finest global selectors spinning smooth-sailing sounds.

On the flip, Pantano dives deep into the lush depths of timeless euro-minimal house. Swirling synths capture the ear right from the get-go, as restrained drums allow the melodic magic plenty of space to soar. Rich reverb creates a gushing build as we hit the EP’s energetic peak, before seamlessly flowing right back into the groove.

Closing out the project is Delta, drifting us into psychedelia with deviously delightful percussive patterns and synthetic soundscapes. Mosso threads the line between foreign & familiar as only he can, allowing dancers a chance to test new sinews of sound throughout this heady house cut.

The badabing diskos crew digs deep once more and comes up with two downtempo indie-house monsters from label regulars Vinny Villbass and Sommerfeldt.

Producer, artist, sound guru and DJ Vinny Villbass hails from Oslo with releases on Eskimo and Trunkfunk. He has also worked with experimental electronic artist Pantha Du Prince and is a versatile performer and musician. Here he works with Sommerfeldt who has previously worked under various aliases on acclaimed labels such as Paper Recordings and Full Pupp. He is an equally prominent figure of the Oslo club circuit and both of these new tracks came together while eating basement fish (fermented trout that's been cooking in a bucket of brine in a basement for two months) in a wood cabin somewhere in the Norwegian mountains during the pandemic of 2021. Opener 'Back in Time' leans backward in both rhythm and harmony and creates plenty of space for its heavy claps and hypnotic vocal cuts. This alluring and artful groove is perfect for both sunlit beaches and dark clubs alike. As always with this label, it's a track that oozes musicianship and class. The equally fresh 'Basement Fish' goes even deeper but explores harder energies as disharmonic analog synth mayhem is held together by rhythmic vocals from the ever-amazing Toshybot who was once part of late 90s supergroup Tøyen. It's a rugged groove with tripped-out synth effects designed to bring all new vibes to the dance floor. Vinny Villbass & Sommerfeldt have hooked themselves a couple of beauties for this EP. There should be a new name for Norwegian balearica as they are hitting the sweet spot every time. This EP is no exception, with its retro analogue sounds touching on Ibiza, Italo, soundtrack and all the good stuff.

The Telemark Express is a collaboration between Norway's Kjetil Lagesen aka Kellini, an up and coming disco producer and familiar name on the Nordic scene, Jarle Bråthen. Periodically they both have 'writer's block' but when they hit the studio together, these obstacles fade away and the magic emerges.

Epic Proportions starts things off at a pace with its bubbling arpeggiator, congas and 4/4 beat that build, before the epic synths takes things to space disco heaven.

Inflatable Ego goes full balearic with its reggae lilt, stringless flanged bass and selection of analogue synths. Close your eyes and it could be 1986 in Amnesia as Alfredo drops that dubbed out Demis Roussos B-side everyone's been banging on about.

The title track goes deep with a nagging synth and swells that lay underneath Vangelis like synths as they pick out their melody.

Bright Future keeps the squelchy bass with uplifting chords to send the sun down in to the Med as you move on to your third Long Island Ice Tea.
