Marx & Engels define Communism as a society without states, borders, economic classes, and money, and wrote that for Communism to come about there must first be Capitalism. Basically the argument is that either Capitalism will inspire a workers revolt that accomplishes these, or that Capitalism is the only system good enough to bring about the sort of "singularity" necessary to complete these objectives. At least that's how understand it in simple terms.
