I discovered my voice one day on my bathroom floor... it was messy, I was 15, but over the years simply nurtured it with love. I first picked up the guitar at the age of seven, then preferred four strings in later life from the age of seventeen.


I joined the now legendary funk band 'Capri' in the summer of 1998 after being discovered as the vocalist/bassist in rock band ‘The Emporium’ (with Dave Hanson of ‘The Dunwells’ fame).


Capri went on to release their debut EP ‘Earthsongs’ in 1999, followed two albums ‘Boogieman’ and ‘Capri Live’ amongst numerous singles including the US club hit ‘Car Chase On Phoenix Avenue’.


Along with Capri collaborators Dan Woodward, Joe Tatton & Jim Corry, I joined the already established funk-rock band 'Jacuzzi 500' in 2003. 

I replaced vocalist/actor Sam Riley who fantastically plays Joy Division's Ian Curtis in 2007 film 'Control'.  Jacuzzi 500 released a fantastic EP in 2006 called 'Sister'.


I decided in 2006 to set up a new band with Capri band-mate, keyboardist/vocalist Joe Tatton (also of The New Mastersounds). The aim was to produce music that both artists had written that didn't particularly fit in with their other bands. Sounds to come out of 'J-Walkers' represent a more soulful & stripped-down side of all involved which also include virtuoso drummer Andy Marshall & diverse guitarist Jonny Flockton, old friends and previous collaborators with me & Joe. I re-adopted the bass guitar for The J-Walkers.


I have also been the lead vocalist in ‘Soul Vaccination’, a popular tribute to the supergroup ‘Tower of Power’ since 2005 and bassist in the folk-pop band ‘Blame Dave’ who released their debut album ‘At the Mercy of Someone Else’s God’ in December 2010 on the Popla Disque label. 


I have produced several music recordings & re-mixes as-well as producing & presenting a popular weekly jazz radio show.


More recent times have led me into becoming one-third of musical-comedy sensation ‘Mik Artistik’s Ego Trip’.  The band have played at major festivals in the UK and Ireland including a five-year run at Glastonbury.  We have become popular with a staggering range of celebrity fans including Jonny Vegas, Keith Allen, Glenn Tilbrook, Zodiac Mindwarp, Faust, John Cooper-Clark, Irvine Welsh, Gaz Mayall, The Stereophonics, The Kaiser Chiefs, Barnzley, Bill Drummond (KLF), Martin Parr, Viviene Westwood, Chloe Sevigny, Evan Dando (Lemonheads), Mick Jones (The Clash!!!!), Suggs, Louis Eliot (Rialto), Dominic West (AKA Jimmy McNulty of The Wire!!!!!!!).


2013 has created the opportunity for me to start recording my debut ‘solo’ album.  The self-titled album is a truly soulful affair featuring special guests from throughout my career.

The Strypes are 4-piece rhythm and blues band hailing from Cavan, Ireland, formed in 2011 by Ross Farrelly (lead vocals/harmonica), Josh McClorey (lead guitar/vocals), Pete O'Hanlon (bass guitar/harmonica) and Evan Walsh (drums).

The group has spent the past 18 months launching their explosive R&B assault on the clubs and festivals of Ireland, the UK and Europe, viciously hammering out a no-nonsense blues repertoire drawing from the songbooks of Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, Howlin' Wolf, Little Walter, Slim Harpo and more with the passion and venom of British blues groups such as Dr. Feelgood, The Yardbirds, The Rolling Stones and The Animals. 

Having already been met with critical acclaim from greats such as Jeff Beck and Paul Weller and been tipped by NME as the No. 1 new band to watch, it seems things can only get better for The Strypes.
