Londoner Ben Spalding is a talented track selector, currently based in Oslo, Norway.

Aside from performing, day to day, Ben is founder & Managing Director of PuzzleProjectsGroup which is home to a number of mini brands dedicated to creative industries, including the online Artist feature series & record label PuzzleProjectsMusic & the rapidly growing Nomadic party concept Puzzled - he is a well-known supporter of the underground music scene & the Artists within it.

Ben has managed & performed at music events in 33 countries since 2012 playing countless parties on rooftops, beaches, car parks, clubs, bars, venues, boats - you name it.

2019 proved to be a huge year professionally for Ben, bookings for him or for Puzzled shows led him to perform in a staggering 19 countries in 9 months, including highly successful tours of Europe, Asia & Australia with some excellent Musical talent.

Aside from other global bookings, July 2020 will see Ben go on tour in the USA performing 8 shows in 8 states across Texas, Ohio, Colorado, New York & then onto Mexico & Canada.
 
He has a defined style, delivering trademark infectious, creative, high energy-spiked sets that span multiple genres including Rare Disco, Nu-Disco, Boogie, Soul, Funk, all sub-genres of House & Techno, often cruising in & out of tracks, edits & samples from the last six decades but never losing connection with the quality of the music he plays.

He strictly plays no mainstream music, meticulously hunting deep into the classics & lesser known productions, rare & lesser-known producers then re-working them enhanced a wide array of provocative acapellas, samples, film clips & other sounds recorded by himself or collaborating Producers or Musicians.

Ben Spalding, an endlessly creative DJ, producer and record label owner, is the man behind the PuzzleProjectsGroup.

PuzzleProjectsGroup is home to a number of mini brands dedicated to creative industries and creative arts. These include a 360-degree artist agency, the hugely successful online artist feature series & record label PuzzleProjectsMusic, plus the rapidly growing Nomadic party concept Puzzled. Underpinning all his work is Ben’s love and support for the underground music scene & the artists within it.

A Londoner now based in Norway, Ben has managed & performed at music events in 35 countries since 2012 including Coachella in California. As well as playing countless traditional parties in bars, clubs and beaches, he has DJ’d less conventional venues including abandoned rooftops, multi-storey car parks and boats. 2019 proved to be a huge year for Ben as solo act bookings and Puzzled shows took him on a 19-country world tour in nine months, playing sell-out shows across Europe, Asia & Australia.

While 2020’s schedule has been put on hold due to the Coronavirus pandemic, plans are in place for a 2021 American tour including eight Puzzled shows in eight states alongside PuzzleProjectsMusic artists. Plus solo gigs either side in Mexico and Canada with repeat Europe & Asia tours to follow later in 2021.

Musically, Ben grew up on a diet of Motown, Soul and Disco from his Mum and classical music via his Dad, while in his teenage years he discovered the raw power of Hip Hop and Drum’n’Bass. His 20s were then a riot of Disco, House and Techno.

That musical upbringing informs his DJ sets. Ben doesn’t stick to one genre, preferring to play lengthy sets, starting with slow, soulful Boogie & beatdown classics and edits, moving into infectious Disco, Nu-disco and House territory before upping the tempo with various shades of deep, high-energy instrumental-led House and driving, hypnotic Techno. But like all good artists, Ben can adapt to every crowd, show and venue.

He meticulously hunts for lost classics and lesser-known productions. And adds depth and layers to his sets via acapellas, samples, film clips & other found sounds alongside a unique sample library recorded by bands, artists and musicians.

The musical journey is set to expand even further in the next year, with Ben releasing music under his own name and his pseudonym ‘Professor Puzzle’ plus an ongoing collaboration with one of Berlin’s top producers.

We’re launching a new mix series, where we ask some of our most beloved DJ’s to add another dimension of our hotel music landscape. Our first guest is Ben Spalding.

@BenSpaldingOfficial is a highly creative DJ, Producer, Record Label Owner and the man behind PuzzleProjectsGroup - which includes @PuzzleProjectsMusic, @PuzzledParties and several other highly progressive underground brands.

While his 2020 touring schedule has been put on hold due to the Coronavirus pandemic, plans are in place for mid-late 2021 which will see him go on a USA and Mexico tour followed by a return tour of Asia across Bali, Singapore, Malaysia & Hong Kong, Australia & New Zealand and a debut tour in South America and many more locations to be confirmed.

In March 2021 Ben will release the first of 4 x two-track House & Techno EP’s with the renowned Berlin-based Musician, Live act & Producer @RonaldChristoph.

A Londoner, now based in the mountains in Norway - over the last decade, Ben has performed in over 40 countries, including Coachella Festival in California and @LostBeachClub in Ecuador.

The @PuzzleProjectsMusic and @HOT-GROOVERS label boss has been on fire in recent overseeing the rapid growth of the two record labels and the talented and diverse collectives of artists from over 30 countries leading to critical acclaim from publications such as DJ Mag, BBC, Billboard charts and support from countless, major underground artists across the genres of Disco, House & Techno worldwide.

As a music producer, Ben has released his original and unique take on Tech House, Minimal and Techno music to great success - regularly exploring and enjoying powerful studio collaborations with artists including @RonaldChristoph, @FlavioMPMusic and many other talented producers on his record labels.

His music has been consistently supported by many of the scenes biggest names including Maceo Plex, Marco Carola, Jamie Jones, Richie Hawtin, Joseph Capriati, Steve Lawler, Nic Fanciulli, Claude Von Stroke, Chris Lake, Nicole Moudaber, Roger Sanchez, Riva Starr, Danny Rampling, Gene Farris, Eddie Amador, Seb Fontaine and many more.

A fierce supporter of unknown, established or megastar talent, Ben is also the man behind the sprawling PuzzleProjectsGroup, which operates several progressive concepts dedicated to the underground scene and the artists within, which include the chart-topping record labels @PuzzleProjectsMusic and @HOT-GROOVERS, the nomadic rave concept @PUZZLEDParties and the 360 business agency PuzzleProjectsCreate which provides services to a number of record labels and independent artists in the scene.

With the soon to be established booking agency PuzzleProjectsTalent and his third record label @ANIMALRECORDINGS in the works, there is no limit to what is to be achieved over time.

2024 will see Ben have multiple releases out in digital and vinyl format on @PuzzleProjectsMusic and @ANIMALRECORDINGS, whilst early 2024 will see Ben go on another tour of Europe and the Americas making debut shows in more countries.
