Old Skool House Classics

Over the years trance played quite a big part in my musical upbringing.  It started back in about 95 listening to tracks like Sasha's 'Be as One' and BBE's '7 days one week'.  The Reactivate mix series also played a key part in my discovery of good trance music long before the Trance explosion of 98-99.  By the time the trance explosion hit I'd come to resent a lot of what the new generation of trance clubbers stood for and what in turn it did to the scene.  For this reason I prided myself on refusing to go to Gatecrasher although looking back I do have a little regret that I never did make it there given what ultimately happened to the club.  After the Trance explosion when everything went mainstream I abandoned trance completely for about 15 years until I recently re-discovered it and was pleased to hear that with far more superior music technology available the new trance sound goes somewhere near to where I remember it being back in the mid nineties.  Whenever I discover good new trance music I'll carry on buying it though admittedly there is still a lot of shite out there.  For that reason my trance mixes may be few and far between but at least that means in my opinion the tunes that go into them go close to recreating that mid nineties rush.

In a similar way to my remix of 'I Can't Take The Power' I have made it a little more DJ friendly.  With this one, I also slowed the tempo a little so that it fits in with a more house vibe.

Ultimate Old Skool Mix 88 - 94

This is a mix that I've been wanting to put together for a while but haven't been able to find time that I thought a mix like this deserved to put it together and mix it.  There was around 50 tracks that I originally wanted in the mix but in order to fit it into roughly 90 minutes I cut it down to around 20.  The mix starts on a more progressive style to any of my previous house classics mixes  taking in the best of epic house from the early to mid 90's.  It then moves through more of an acid sound and finally onto a harder edged sound.  Some of the tracks could be considered forgotten classics by some but all are masterpieces worthy of a place on any house classics mix in my opinion.

Summer 2017 - Poolside Grooves

This mix has been a bit of a labour of love for me over the last 6 months.  I've mixed it and remixed it several times before finally settling on this mix.   It covers quite a wide spectrum of techno and tech house from minimal through to melodic and I have utilized Traktors remix decks in parts of the mix and also re-arranged and in some cases remixed some tracks so that they sit better in the mix.

Techno and Tech House Mix

A mix of some bouncy techno and UK hardcore classics from the mid nineties to the present day.  The style on this mix moves away from the break beat and piano driven sound featured in my Happy Hardcore classics mix and focuses more on the 4/4 synth driven bouncy sound that was played by the likes of  DJ Brisk at the legendary Club Kinetic and Scott Brown at Rezerection in Scotland.
