Originally from Alsace, France, MATT-E has been immersed in German club and rave culture since his teens, and with this inspiration he has built up an electronic universe behind the decks, from deep house to incisive techno and drum n' bass.
From 2021 to 2023 he had his monthly show "Techno Force" 100% vinyl 100% Techno on Jim's Prophecy Radio. He played in clubs, bars, private and underground parties, always cultivating this underground spirit. Enjoy his freshly recorded podcast for Intumi.

Exclusive Peo Watson & Mainro 'Chardon Mary (Lazaros Remix)'

French label Family NAME is set to release its 22nd release in late September. Therefore NAME festival affiliates Peo Watson & Mainro joined forces to produce 'Chardon Mary', which is probably their most techno-ish approach to music so far. Cologne based DJ and producer Lazaros took over the remix duties. The artist, who has released on Kompakt-run label KX and Sum Over Histories, keeps the vibe from the original take but focuses on a reduced and raw bassline sprinkling spooky sounds into the track's build-up before taking on the original lead-synth-pads to create a mystic-mind-trip that is supported by twirling bleeps. Turning around the phrase 'the calm before the storm' Lazaros tames the track's impetus and returns to calmer sound-sceneries to close the track.

Peo Watson & Mainro's EP 'Chardon Mary' will be released September 25th, 2018 on Family NAME.

EXCLUSIVE: Peo Watson & Mainro - Chardon Mary (Lazaros Remix) [Family NAME]

crouds formed in 2017, pursuing the declared goal of playing superior club sets. They dropped their debut “Cabin Pressure” in 2020 on Neuzeit Records. Another EP on Intumi and remixes for Truncate and Ben Haviour followed the same year. Andreas Schuller and Jay Nagel are part of the splendid Sonic Ground Kollektiv, which – outside of Covid times – stages regular workshops, streamings and club nights. For RFR they collaborated with Max Delius. From this liaison the sizzling debut track “Larking” arose. Max Delius also is a member of the Sonic Ground Kollektiv and moreover known as part of the live-techno project “Numpad”
“No Service“ starts the round dance and comes straight to business. Bass is king - magnificently rumbling breakbeats, caressed by ambient sounds in the background. A couple of scanner sounds and distorted drone effects – voila, it’s a banger!
“My Mind is a Knife“ unfolds considerably calmer. A straight, slow-downed beat, electronica and ambient tones now dominate the foreground. Compared to the opener it’s like the second infusion of a green tea: Less edges, but more opulence in the fine nuances. 
“Ruff Stuff” embodies everything that we love about techno. Straightforwardness without letting versatility slip. Here again the characterising melodic patterns, which stand out for Crouds. Sounds like a spontaneous live set by Christian Vogel and Robert Hood who coincidentally ran into each other at the club. Nice track! 
“Larking” combines the best of crouds and Max Delius. Broken beats, in this case arranged more minimally and accompanied by rather abstract sounds. Darker, more mechanical and with significant references to early UK hardcore. A touch of melody at the end sticks true to the blueprint of this EP and finishes this RFR release.

Was ist in der Kiste von Sacha Ketterlin? Und warum sampelt er seine 909 lieber als sie live zu spielen?

In dieser Folge feiert unser Podcast eine kleine Premiere, denn wir begrüßen erstmals einen Gast! Der schon seit längerem über mehrere Ecken mit unserem Kollektiv verbundene @sachaketterlin dürfte auch außerhalb der Modular-Szene dem Einen oder der Anderen bekannt sein. 

Er ist unter anderem der Kopf hinter der Ambient Veranstaltung „Higher Resonance“ und dem gleichnamigen Label. Er tritt regelmäßig als Live-Act auf Techno-Partys in Erscheinung, hat in der Vergangenheit mit Freunden das Chigal-Festival auf die Beine gestellt und ist immer wieder Mitorganisator von Clubnächten im Mensch Meier und anderen Berliner Techno-Locations. 

Im vergangenen Jahr hat er dann das Techno-Label @Intumi gegründet, auf dem vor kurzem seine EP „Trinity“ erschienen ist und auf dem auch unsere Jungs von @crouds im Spätsommer eine EP mit Namen „Anshan“ released haben.

Eigens für unseren Podcast hat er ein Live-Set aufgenommen und uns einen Einblick in seine sehr spezielle Art des Musikmachens gewährt, die geprägt ist von einer Detailverliebtheit wie sie nur selten zu finden ist. Angefangen bei seiner klassischen musikalischen Vorbildung und der damit einhergehende Entwicklung von Harmonien, über seinen über ein Jahrzehnt perfektionierten modularen Synthesizer bis hin zum Tuning seiner Oszillatoren auf 432 Hertz.

Alles in allem eine Ode an das Live-Set; Gesungen von Sacha, Andi und den beiden Arnes.
