After the great show with Pedro at our event in Cologne 2019, we were sure to work out a release with him. The belgian producer duo Pedro Mercado & Karada created two nice Melodic Techno tracks for our label, in addition strong Remixes were made by Rauschhaus and Catom. The release was supposed to come out, then the pandemic started and everything closed. We decided to wait with the release until the club life would start again. So it's finally time to release it and go further with our label business.

Title track “Trends” on A-Side starts with a strong and to-the-point kick that directly puts this track on the floor. Soon thoughtful, melodic patterns pour into this clear announcement before the pumping subbass synth with a special impulsive flow is added. Later on, fussy and dreamy heights bring the whole thing to an atmospheric turning point. This arrangement is a perfect dancing of peaktime bass elements with flying tender sounds.

After several acclaimed releases on Astropolis, Stripped Muzic and Bedrock records in a short space of time, Caduceus Records enlist the French producer for the next 12” slab of techno on the label. 

Benjamin Leclercq (Madben) grew up in Northern France, not far from the Belgian border, discovering electronic music at the end of 90s and delved into the Belgian club scene where underground sounds were already being spun, leading to his first foray into djing when he moved to Lille, back in 2000. It wasn’t until he arrived in Orleans that he began composing electronic music in 2007.

Quickly picked up by the press, he was crowned a ‘Rising Talent’ by Trax Magazine, and is set to follow in the footsteps of his French production forefathers, Laurent Garnier or Agoria, in paving a way for himself through the growing slew of artists out there. Having already caught the eyes and ears of the old techno guard and heavyweight producers including Dave Clarke, Carl Craig, Skudge, John Digweed and Ben Sims, Madben looks set for great heights. 

On ‘Couleurs De Danse,’ Benjamin provides a tempered palette of tracks which flow from red (Danse Rouge), to blue (Danse Bleue), to the veiled and stripped back black (Danse Noire), all taking on different shades of percussive techno. The collection of tracks is then topped off by Brazilian born producer, Urbano. 

2014 has been a flourishing time for Madben with an obvious exponential growth in interest in this young producer - and with a new live show on the horizon, he looks set for greatness.

Is it just us or does Sage Armstrong sound like he could have been an astronaut? Well, regardless of our vivid imagination - we're apparently able to arbitrarily concoct an elaborate back story for an artist back story purely based upon their name - we're certainly very glad that this Mr. Armstrong (no relation to Neil) decided against a career at NASA, instead opting to make delectable beats sure to get you thawing out those boogying muscles.

Having first popped up on our radar last summer with his label debut ‘What’s Yo Tempetcha?’ on the Dirtybird BBQ collection, the man from Orlando has continued to impress since, cropping up with a number of show stealing performances for Claude Vonstroke's inimitable imprint, which tellingly keeps bringing him back for more.

For his latest trick, Armstrong serves up two new cuts for, you guessed it, Dirtybird, offering up a pair of sleazy, funk enthused rump shakers sure to be soundtracking a party near you upon release. Teaming up with DT favourite Bot for the EP's opener, She's Smoking', it's the records title track, ‘Quest To The West’ that really grabbed us by the throat here at DT and as such was our pick for premiere.

In 2008, Denis Lihotzky and Max Keck noticed a void in the Cologne underground music scene. So the two friends decided to start a project with the aim to fill that void: to provide Cologne with a regular event, which focuses on Melodic Techno. As an ode to their homeland, the Oberbergischer Land, they named their event Bergwacht or “Mountain Rescue”, and began to host parties once a month in Cologne’s Artheater. Denis “Liho”, who not only manages its bookings, but is also Bergwacht’s resident DJ, programs each event with an eye for upcoming talent and an ear for extraordinary music. Bergwacht’s guest DJs continue to attract a loyal and energetic audience, and by 2012, Bergwacht has become an important part of the Cologne underground Techno scene. Continuing to follow their passion, in September of 2012, the Oberbergischer troupe launched Bergwacht Records as an outlet to curate and present the music they love most, “Melodic Techno”. Their debut release features Max Keck and his longtime friend and collaborator Sven Kirchner as Tool..8 with remixes by Lanny May and Boss Axis.
