MITSUcast 017 - Vixen 

The next episode of our MITSUcast was recorded by one of  Copenhagen's finest - Vixen. She is an integral part of the Danish trance/techno scene and it is without doubt that her productions actively contributed to the popularity of the 'Copenhagen sound' across the European techno movement. We're also more than happy to her back on our label, as her track 'Microclubbing' became one of the biggest hits of our first various artist compilation. In her podcast for MITSU2000 she fully embraces the trance sound that she is known for. Prepare for a set full of finest trance music and don't forget to stay healthy!

The Mama Told Ya label head takes us on an intimate journey through old school classics and forthcoming unreleased gems from her label, all blended seamlessly and maintaining a high-energy throughout. For this one I came up with 1h+ that is a slightly different from my last couple of podcasts / mixes. Musically I went with a pretty high pace here but still keeping it on the deep, sweet & intimate side of things. 
The mix Is constructed of old time classics alongside a few upcoming (un)release(d)s from Mama told ya. It comes with an epic & nostalgic touch at the end, felt that it can't hurt at the moment. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did recording it.

Hailing from Toronto and now based in Berlin, DINA is a rising techno star and one part of Nachtcrew – a label and party series fusing rave sounds, art and 3D mapping in order to provide a totally immersive sensorial experience.

DINA has become a central figure in the Toronto underground techno scene by providing local artists with a platform via her own Nachtcrew events whilst being a regular at infamous warehouse parties.

Since DINA’s debut EP on Molten Moods, she has been releasing on various compilations and labels including Space Trax, Al Gharib, Ismus, Huntley’s + Palmers, and more recently an EP on Nachtcrew imprint. Her production spans spacey ambience, punching techno basslines, and ethereal trance melodies. She has many new stellar projects and releases in the pipeline.

Born and raised in Germany, the musical roots of the Berlin based DJ started growing by the age of 5, when she trained to play the piano. Her musical taste evolved from Hyperpop to Hip Hop and when she moved to the capital to Techno. Never willing to make compromises on labeling her style, Supergloss rather offers a new adventure each time.

He can be most often found having hard fun on funktion ones as a resident of Power Play, a series of off-location parties in Berlin.

Alex Wilcox is an American artist, DJ and electronic music produer, currently based in Berlin. Deep down the rabbit hole you’ll find Alex Wilcox in a hurry - cutting, copy-pasting, texturing, manipulating, saturating… relentlessly
improvising. Fast-paced & multifaceted, this Mad Glitcher is an eclectic
player - switching genres and BPMs fastert han ever - typically playing only his own music. Through chop-chop sounds, Alex Wilcox gives life to nonsense wonders and unreal musical scenaries: welcome to oddball juke-techno without boundaries. What a maze! Infatuated with 90’s rock music, young Alex Wilcox spent countless days copying John Frusciante’s guitar playing and
listening to Smashing Pumpkins and the Butthole Surfers. He later dove into
electronic music through Modeselektor, Thom Yorke, Radiohead, Portishead and
AIR. During college, he visited Berlin, where his nascent interest in techno took
a leap forward - he was particularly interested in its relation to funk music. Other big inspirations are Paul Kalkbrenner and Kanye West. Excessively curious about music, Alex Wilcox is a self-taught technician, nonstop honing his production skills. On his Youtube channel, he also dissects numerous powerful tracks to understand their constructions. From Austin to LA then Detroit, Alex used to work at Chalice and Orb Studios where he was able to see the inner workings of pop, k-pop, rap, and rock music production. In Detroit, Alex got his hands dirty playing some gigs, and spent time with Mike Banks at the Underground Resistance HQ Submerge- as he went deeper into focusing on club
music. Alex moved last year to Berlin, in search of the epicenter of techno and
electronic music, hungry for more. Recently, Alex Wilcox dropped one iconic
release on Mama told ya « It’s okay to cry » and will drop some more near the end of the year. He played at RSO (Berlin), Pal (Hamburg), Mess (Paris), Le Sucre (Lyon), La Belle Électrique (Grenoble), Geheimclub (Magdeburg), Underground events with BLDG01 (Detroit) and more.

BCCO Podcast 240: Alex Wilcox

Based in Copenhagen, the half Danish half South Korean musician Schacke has been producing sounds of a large variety of different styles since their early teens. Starting with a background in Metal, Noise, and Industrial, Schacke has continually shown a determination to expand and evolve their universe through the exploration of electronic music. Since moving to Copenhagen around ten years ago, Schacke has run an underground label for experimental music, co-owned and run the legendary Mayhem venue in Copenhagen, and released music under a variety of different aliases on local and international labels.
As one of the original members of the Fast Forward collective and agency, Schacke has played a significant role in shaping and defining what has become known as the ‘’Copenhagen Techno Sound’’, which they helped pioneer with their first two techno records on the now-defunct Ectotherm label between 2015-2017 started by Mama Snake and Courtesy. Schacke is also a resident DJ and event organizer at the famous queer sex parties by feminist porn production company ‘’Bedside Productions’’.
Schacke draws inspiration from a wide range of different genres, usually using techno as only a template to explore and make genre bending fusions using a mixture of unlikely sources. With the combination of hard-hitting beats and rolling baselines, usually mixed with catchy leads and euro vocals, their tracks are always bound together with a precise execution of delicately layered textures, making Schacke’s techno distinctly recognizable yet strangely unpredictable.
