If salt is the bedrock of flavour, James Pepper is our preferred seasoning for the dance floor. 

Riding the wake of ‘Three Drops’, his well-received collaboration with German-producer Black Loops, Mr. Pepper is swiftly rising to the upper echelons of Australian electronica. After a memorable debut Boiler Room set at the foundational Lost Sundays event, it was only right that we invited James back to mix Lost Sundays Sessions 011. 

In his own words:

“The record that most does it for me in this	 mix is Nachtbraker’s ‘You Can’t Run’. I downloaded it years ago, but I don’t think I’ve ever actually had the chance to play it. There is just something about the synth part at the drums together that are so wrong that it’s right.

As far as Australian producers go, I’ve included a tune from Reflex Blue. I don’t know too much about RB - I only just discovered him while digging for this mix - but his recently released ‘Digital Dreams EP’ is super.

And the track in this mix I’m most excited to play when I’m back in the booth is one of my own - a collaboration with my good friend Black Loops (based in Berlin) titled ‘Arp Love’. It will be the accompaniment to my recent ‘Three Drops EP’, released on Gallery Recs. I’m yet to play it out (the finishing touches were executed as lockdown struck), but I think it bodes well for the dance floor!”

Over the last two years the producer has seen his stocks rise via a manifesto which easily gets his message across: Forget about shit and just dance. After an unbelievable performance at our first Gold Haus event post-covid lockdown, we are amped to share Bella’s set recording with you all. Whether you were fortunate enough to witness in the flesh, or are hearing for the first time, we’re sure you’ll appreciate the hour of fun, punchy vibes that she threw down in the afternoon sun. 

If you’ve been living under a rock and Bella’s name doesn’t quite ring a bell, then let yourself be educated. She single handedly has created and curated Melbourne’s premier stream series, In House Radio; is a resident at the renown Creatures Events, and; features regularly at parties thrown by Melbourne big names like Novel and Palace Trax. Her sets radiate raw party power and could be described as a banging genre cocktail, exploring the boundaries of Euro Trance, House, Electro, Italo, Breakbeat and Techno… shaken, not stirred.

Bertie is an Australian DJ, Producer, Radio Host and Party Planner who traverses the spectrum of groove. Her sets explore a signature mix of disco, soul, house, acid, prog, and hard groove.

Her musical journeys are exactly that; a guided exploration from start to finish. A fusion of percussive beats, acidic motifs, and euphoric highlights. The result is a synergistically uplifting experience designed to get you up and moving and leave you wanting more.

In 2022 Bertie brought this cultivated sound into the art of music production, releasing ‘Pillow Queen via Phenomena Records, then in 2024 her debut EP ‘Carabiner’ on the same label – four punchy, euphoric house tracks inspired by her queer identity, alongside a remix from Toronto’s Ciel.

She also co-founded Club Aqueous, an event series prioritising underrepresented local and international artists, and shares her ever-expanding collection of laid back groovers via her show ‘Cup of Bertea’ on Skylab Radio.

With an impressive array of festivals already under her belt (Pitch Music & Arts, Strawberry Fields, Sugar Mountain, Gaytimes, Daybreak, Wonder Mountain and Beyond the Valley), support slots for an impressive array of international artists (CC:DISCO, Denis Sulta, Bradley Zero, Cormac, Kornél Kovács, Leon Vynehall, Cormac, rRoxymore, fka.m4a, Patrick Holland), and a recent Australian tour under her belt, it’s clear Bertie’s just getting started.
