We're back with our guest mixes and Best Boy Electric (re)opens the ball with some mesmerising electro serenades. 

The Hamburg-based selector, also part of the the queer feminist collective POSSY, delights us with some dreamy robotic groovers and keeps the energy up while providing touches of fine vocals, only embellishing their journey. The week has just started and this mix sets the tone: we will have a great one.

For this week’s DETECT we welcome @bestboi.  

A rapidly increasing presence in Germany, they first came onto our radar a year ago during their determined efforts to increase FLINTA* presence in Hamburg’s club culture. 

Part of the queer, FLINTA* collective POSSY and a resident at The Golden Pudel Club, Best Boy Electric’s fight has since taken them further afar with recent bookings at Tresor and ://about blank as well as festivals across Germany. Taking efforts into their own hands they launched their own events including ‘Fine Space’ which prioritises platforming BIPOC FLINTA* artists and ‘Dream Journal’. 

For this vinyl-only mix they take a more melancholic approach to their Detroit electro influenced sound, introducing increasingly volatile, percussive elements.

Serving up a high-powered concoction of dark, heavy-hitting electro, this week's mix comes to us via Best Boy Electric, a DJ steadily making their mark on Hamburg's music scene and far beyond. We're excited to witness the force of BBE's selections this summer at Dimensions 2023.

new mix containing some tunes we like at the moment. mainly acid, ebm, electro. please excuse the transition fuckups towards the end. next time we will do better. we swear. oh yeah and of course the needle had to skip during the last(!) track, but thats a clear case of higher forces being involved.
