I actually wrote and recorded most of this in one day back in September of 2012. At the time I was really obsessed with late 50s/early 60s lullaby doo wop songs from bands like The Flamingos and The Fleetwoods. Since then I’ve become aware of an unexpected parallel in subject matter between this song an entire genre of teenage tragedy songs from that era. I never posted it because I was unhappy with my vocal performance, but I’ve realized there’s no point in letting it waste away, unlistened to, just because it’s not perfect.

The Genome Project is the most recent musical endeavor from Soundshift & Belial Pelegrim. The idea was for each of us to come up with loads of custom loops which we would provide to each other. Then starting off our pieces pulling from our co-created library of loops and have each subsequent mix morph and evolve into new manifestations.
