As Critical Monday takes us through the beginning of this cold new year, Matt Pompeo & Snyl open up Chapter XVII with ‘Innocent Silent’, a rather dark & emotional trip backed by dizzy arpeggiators and melodic guitars, before the plaintive but charming voice of ANGST vor GRETA makes an opening.

Following up comes the second original of this stunning release from the two producers. Here, we definitely enter the groovier territory, tainted by hints of psychedelic and melodic synths unravelling as we progress through the track.

On remix duties, Alexey Union closes this EP beautifully by taking ‘Innocent Silence’ to darker and sweatier territories, giving another depth to ANGST vor GRETA’s catchy vocals, and offering us a long and immersive break, releasing the last part of the track into an earthquake of blissfulness.

Kalipo is back on Iptamenos Discos, this time with a solo EP named ‘Wut’, featuring a stylistically diverse selection of dark disco tracks which provide a healthy dose of everything from heavy percussion to dark atmospheric sounds to joyful tones, as well as featuring transfixing vocals from Joy Tyson and Local Suicide. 
Refreshingly unexpected, this release stays true to Kalipo’s rich signature blend of influences, textures and sounds. The artist does not let himself be defined, straddling the line between house, techno and disco influences for a unique sound that earned him critical acclaim and made him a staple of clubs and festivals all around the globe. He is also a founding member of the renowned German electro punk band Frittenbude and is producing for the esteemed and part of the up and coming dark disco project Dina Summer. His vast discography currently encompasses 5 albums as well as countless singles and remixes released on labels including Christian Löffler’s Ki Records, Audiolith Records, Get Physical, Stil for Talent among others. His live sets exclusively feature his own tracks and are an exciting and unique construction of his originals and remixes which are a little different every time, but never fail to provide a captivating performance.

‘Wut’ will release via Iptamenos Discos on (signed) black 12” vinyl  and made available on all digital and streaming platforms, with ‘Seeking Angels’ being released first as a single on 29.08.2023, followed by ‘Shinigami feat. Joy Tyson’ as a second single on 19.09.2023, with the full EP being released on 13.10.2023.

This release follows a stellar year for both these young yet stunningly well-dressed artists - Hiss' Soulja Boy-sampling 'I Got Me Some Bathing Ape' having dominated festivals, boats and clubs worldwide over the summer, while Toura had one of the stand-out tracks on Obligated Records to date, the unescapable '44 Bongo'.

The pair also combined during the production process to create an interactive dance performance; namely, 'Hiss Headlocks Toura', which has been performed in public twice to date. A challenging piece which questions and playfully negotiates our current conception of male friendship and physicality.
