Joshka and Minka were introduced to each other in EKKO, where their shared love for leftfield club music blossomed - even during COVID. Expect a blend of bass-driven techno, electro, and breaks, with each track hitting the spot somewhere between freaky and fun. By traversing the faster BPM ranges, their sets bring a playful energy to the dance floor, encouraging dancers to express themselves freely and womxn to claim their space front left.

In this show, Joshka & Minka dive into their early bond over electro, blending it with leftfield techno, oddball bleeps and the occasional vocal surprise. Let's see where the ride takes us.

The Drifter

Alternative rock band Between the Jars stands for explosive power and intense melancholy, inspired by bands such as Radiohead and Talking Heads. In their energetic shows, raw emotions and dynamism prevail. Experimentation is their credo: they challenge the contemporary boundaries of rock and do not shy away from the unexpected. This approach makes Between the Jars layered and authentic.

The five-piece band from Utrecht (NL) retreats to the attic of a beverages distributor, where jars made way for their own Sasapalooa Studios. Here, they create music that challenges traditional norms. Frontman Florian Albronda gives voice to critical views, reflecting on themes such as the pressure to conform to the standards of our modern society. Two albums have been released: Oh... What a Time to Be Alive (2020) and What’s to Come (2021), produced by George Konings (Sound Vision Studio) and Miles Showell (Abbey Road Studios). The albums received critical acclaim from Dutch and international media, including Spirit of Progressive Rock, and the single The Swarm even reached 3voor12’s top 3 best Utrecht releases from 2021.

On stage, Between the Jars brings eclectic shows. Shredding guitar riffs, psychedelic synthesizers, pulsating grooves, and epic vocals take the audience on a journey through their microcosm. Their powerful sound reached stages such as AFAS Live (following The Black Crowes) and Paradiso and festivals in Germany, France, and India. In India, the band rocked Mood Indigo, the world’s biggest college festival, where they absorbed musical influences filtering through in their single Dancing in Circles.

Between the Jars is now releasing their third studio album. They’ve never captured their creativity as vividly as they do on Happily Wasting Away. The album sets the stage for a mesmerizing live experience, set to unfold at EKKO (Utrecht, NL) on June 21, 2025. Step into their world and experience the sound of Between the Jars.
