Ukraine’s minimal hypnotist Silat Beksi now prepares to make his signature mark with the aptly titled ‘On My Own’ Ep. This is his first solo contribution to the label, having initially christened its opening with the heady, breakbeat infused stylings of the ‘Inception’ Ep. The result of a collaborative effort alongside Heidelberg producer Durrrred. Modeight’s discography already boasts a roster of producers who are pushing boundaries in the minimal field, with Romania’s RQZ and Dragutesku, Germany’s Durrrred and ‘Methylat’ duo Virkut & Amin Ravelle’s combined output constituting a powerful sonic statement for Modeight. Silat himself continues to delve deep into his extensive musical influences, showing no signs of slowing his creative output as the talent
prepares to release more music on Welsh imprint Curtea Veche and Milan label Hashplant. This Ep see’s Silat in his element as he laces nuanced rhythms overtop of funky bassline riffs and hazy electronic artefacts, cementing himself once again as a unique and characteristically engaging artist.

Today Meoko is exclusively premiering a track from one of the most talented and promising young producers in the scene; ‘Comet’ by Janeret, which will be included in the upcoming ‘The Collected Visions of Organic’.

Janeret brings the term ‘deep’ down to its core meaning, with warm pad swirls combined with a rolling rhythmic part, ‘Comet' comes out as a lysergic upbeat dream; there’s no time for long and boring breaks as the record proceeds and changes constantly, absorbing its listeners into a psychedelic, positively-charged groove.

The track feels like an ideal representation of the melting reality some of us might experience during the early hours of certain special mornings in the upcoming warmer seasons - and will surely be the perfect soundtrack for these.

A child of the 80’s, Bexu has been awash in electronic music since as far back as he can recall. From deep within the timbered valley of Cluj-Napoca, he has steadfastly been at work in the studio crafting his own sophisticated take on the nascent Romanian minimalism he grew up around. His unique style tends to surprise even seasoned listeners through its delicate, unfolding intricacy poised over powerful functionality, as basslines and synths warble and intertwine through flashes of 90’s synth-wave, casting spells and tantalizing darker, urban moods with his clever use of found-sound samples and percussive hyperplay.
