On their latest full-length, Engineering The Void, Swedish death metal militia, SOREPTION, vomit forth a a multi-layered symphony of surgically accurate riff sequences, maniacal pace fluctuations, plenty of head-jarring rhythms and sprawling intervals of quietude, the six-plus minute opus is an all-consuming lesson in flawlessly assembled brutality.

Engineering The Void was recorded by Tommy Rehn from symphonic black metal collective Angtoria at Ninetone Studios and serves as the follow-up to SOREPTION’s debut full-length, Deterioration Of Minds. Applauded by Underrated Reviews for its, “superior sense of rhythm and razor-sharp precision that will appeal to fans of bands such as Cannibal Corpse, Suffocation, Dying Fetus and The Faceless,” the record reaped critical accolades both Statside and abroad. Noted No Clean Singing, “lots of bands are cranking our modern, technical death metal, attempting to out-do each other (and their forebearers like Necrophagist and Decapitated) with ever more intense instrumental pyrotechnics. Most of them fail at what they’re attempting, or at least fail to create anything you’d want to hear more than once. But SOREPTION have managed to tread this path successfully, not only through the precision of their playing but through the competence of their song-writing.  The music has got grooves and compulsive rhythms — and those way-cool contrasting guitar leads. It just makes you want to get up and fucking mosh and headbang and break shit!,” while Ultimate Guitar opined, “If there was one band…which had to be picked as the representative for what tech death is turning into, this would be it…” Added Metal Observer, “…this album kicked my balls hard on the first listen, completely tore them off during the second, made clam chowder soup with them on its third play-through, and threw said scolding chowder in my face during the fourth. For the recent successes of technical death outfit ARCHSPIRE to come into fruition, certain variables must align. Talent, drive, creativitiy, and absolute dedication are only a few characteristics one may notice about the group, and indeed many have experienced the bi-product of these characteristics:

A tight live performance, where impressive speeds come grinding to a halt, and in even less time twist and contort into complex passages rife with beautiful harmonies, juxtaposed against insidious melodies. An attention to songwriting, focusing not only on technicality, but originality as well, take this sub genre and put it on it's ear. And the combination of musical backgrounds, which is apparent in much of ARCHSPIRE'S music, showing itself through catchy rhythms, interesting riffs and arrangements, and progressive passages.

Pushing boundaries of speed and endurance set only by the genre's top artists, while remaining accessible and interesting is no small feat. Armed with a sound that has been compared to The Faceless, Obscura, Gorod and Augury, Montreal's Beyond Creation put forth technical and progressive death metal, at once pushing the boundaries of aggression and creating catchy, melodic songs. The band draws inspiration from all corners of the scene, from the complex brutality of Necrophagist to the harmonious and rhythmical musicality of Animals As Leaders.

On a high from recent shows in support of well-known acts such as Atheist, Augury, Neuraxis, Revocation, and Martyr, Beyond Creation are receiving a warm welcome from the eager death metal throngs. The launch of the band's 2011 album, 'The Aura', in 2011 on PRC Music has seen the band achieve North American distribution and is solidifying its rising star status.

In the coming months, Beyond Creation is looking forward to several shows in Quebec and elsewhere, including a few official 'The Aura' launch events. The band is also on the lookout for European distribution options and eventual touring opportunities.
