Gene Tellem met Gratts in the South Australian city of Adelaide in 2022 while visiting family and touring the country for some gigs. Gratts, originally from Belgium, also finds himself in the sun for similar reasons. Being from two different French speaking parts of the world, able to communicate in a familiar way but in a whole new place really laid down the vibe for this release. Songs as much for the radio as the club, for a cold wintry night or on the shores of an Australian sunset.

'Sunsets (FBI Mix)' is Gratts & Biancolato's tribute to Sydney veteran DJ Simon Caldwell's long running 'Sunsets' radio show on FBI Radio. Gratts and Caldwell DJ'ed together in Sydney on various occasions, whereas Biancolato is a veteran Melbourne DJ and producer. The track was inspired by the dubby West-Coast deep house sound from the turn of the millennium. Adelaide's Lesley Williams provides the vocal mantra.

'Sundays With U (Neapolitan Mix)' is a jazzy and percussive venture, loosely inspired by the West London bruk sound and Charles Webster. Andreas Poppelbaum, Gratts' studio neighbour in Berlin can be heard on soprano sax. The lyrics are performed by Italian friend Ambra, who delivers them in the Neapolitan dialect.

'Sundays With U (GT Remix)’ is Gene Tellem pulling at all the elements that make the original a scorcher, stretching it out, turning the stomp up, and offering a version for a deep dance floor moment. The voice, sax, atmosphere with the snap on the one. One moment it starts, and soon you won’t know how long it’s been that your eyes are closed, body moving through the room.

My next guest is Campbell.V. @campbellv I met him at an awesome Spincycle party at the Gaso and he was playing really deep music in the front bar while Sammy D was playing in the main room, such an awesome night! He kindly made this 100% vinyl mix recorded at his home on an extremely warm January night. The Mix is made up of some of the deeper records in his collection both new and old with the intent for it to be enjoyed at all times of the day. This mix was a pleasure for him to record and being able to put together a few tracks he loves, showcasing the deeper sounds of electronic music and also being able to put something together which was inspired by many hours spent at places like Lounge and the Mercat (RIP) and having some transformative experiences at parties both locally (S/O citipower and Out of focus in particular) and abroad. Well, it’s been a little while (350,400 minutes to be exact) since we last caught up. Life has its way of throwing curveballs, but here we are. And today, we’re diving into the musical world of Marli—Melbourne-born, Paris-based, feet-stomper, head-bopper, and all-around magical force who’s perfected the art of the irresistible thump.

Over the past few years, Marli’s star has undoubtedly risen, and it’s been an absolute joy to witness. Her journey is nothing short of inspiring, earned through sheer hard work and dedication.

Now, let’s talk about this mix. Marli has absolutely crushed it. She’s given us a glimpse into the creative depths of her mind, stepping away from the typical dancefloor energy and exploring the broader spectrum of sound. The mix is a quixotic, romantic fever dream, woven together with off-kilter rhythms, ethereal alt-R’n’B, mind-bending ambience, and world-spanning soundscapes. The last 12 months have been transformative for me. After finding myself in a precarious mental state, (I won’t go into it here, but the TL; DR is “I was done. Finito. White flag waving.”), I’ve been able to find a serenity and acceptance that has re-connected me to life.  
Part of that reconnection has involved music.
I’ve been fermenting a mix of records for a few months. Not a DJ mix, but a selection of music, cobbled together in a way that, hopefully, makes sense and elicits an emotional response.
While I do love mixing deep “dance” records, I feel increasingly disconnected from this world. I don’t want to stay up late. I don’t want to be in a club or bar, pretending to enjoy myself. It feels disingenuous. The music sometimes feels disposable and secondary.
For this mix of records, I wanted to create something that can be revisited. Again, and again. A mix that will still sound good in 15 years. 
I’ve been buying lots of records. More than ever before. I still buy house and techno, funk and disco. Dance music. Music for temporarily escaping. But I buy a lot of other stuff too. Albums. Long form artistic ideas that seem to convey a richer, deeper story than a 6-minute banger.
The records in this mix have all been acquired in the last 12 months. 
Some of them have been hunted down specifically for this mix. Others are happy discoveries that have sent me on new exploratory excursions.
Give it a listen, if you like. Put it on when you’re cooking dinner. Or folding washing. Driving. Or just sitting. This is music that moves me.
