Climax was originally set up as a weekly Rave club, encompassing all genres of techno, trance and house music (way back in 1994). It was also known to on occasion, throw in a dash of electro and hip-hop to break things up a bit. The night ran on a Tuesday initially, but has also operated on a Wednesday (for one night only) as a recovery for big events and most recently (2008 onwards) as an event itself. 

 It ran from 1994 up until 1998, finishing up for the 20th century with its fourth birthday. Through the years, it evolved into being one of Melbourne's Best Trance nights in the 1990's. Climax was the weekly hangout for the inner crew of Melbourne's dance scene. We were the generation who refined "The Melbourne Shuffle" well before it was called the Melbourne shuffle. The night was the brainchild of friends Rob Cyberman (DJ Venom) & Scott Alert, working under the guise of "Binary Productions" (now Binary Enterprises). From humble beginnings the night grew into an institution, for those needing their weekly fix of techno and trance.

Climax has had many regular Dj's, and has been through several evolutionary changes in its line-up during the course of its life. The residents so far have included . . . . . .
