Reggae and Retro Dancehall meets Jazz and Blues: Rum Shop Blues.

Born and grown in Kingston, Jamaica, Zia Benjamin is a poet: songwriter first, singer second. Her songs are seductive and soulful, with defiance evocative of the retro dancehall and reggae vixens who inspired her growing up. Her lyrics are often ironic, enticing and rude with a sense of humour and sensuality which is entirely Caribbean. 

Zia's is a voice people may know without knowing. She featured as a songwriter and vocalist on Sean Paul's 'Tomahawk Technique' album, Major Lazer's 'Free the Universe' (Billboard #1, US Dance Electronic Albums) and a few other dope tracks. She has since been working on an EP with veteran reggae producer Rory Stone Love - her first single is called 'No Fame'.
