If you have been to a BienAimer party you will recognise the different shades of primo electro music present in this the fifth label outing. Taking care of business for the hot stepping London-based imprint is Parisian artist REda daRE.
 
The ‘Rabzouz’ EP from the Frenchman encapsulates the party and label ethos perfectly and from the acid flecked peak time grooves of title track ‘Rabzouz’ you get some semblance of the vibe at their ridiculous parties. Inserting their smile inducing flavour on the title track is current hot property and fellow Frenchmen Oden & Fatzo.

The colder months bring about a new season and a new sister label to the already flying BienAimer Music imprint. Variant is set to become a home to a more underground dub focused sound. It is also the new alias of label founder Maco and dub techno originator Steve O’Sullivan. Nu school sensibilities meet timeless production on ‘Native Beat’ EP.

The rock solid deeper and deep dub techno two tracker begins with ‘Bardot Is Talkin’ and the lighter than air pads cling to the elongated dub tones that stretch to infinity. ‘Composition’ on the B-side takes things up a notch with deep rebounding bass tones, reverb laden synth stabs and the type of ethereal vocal stutterings from a forgotten dream. As with its older sibling Variant has already established a new angle in electronic music and the journey is only beginning.

American artist and promoter Alain de Saracho has already made huge strides on his home turf of LA with the calibre of parties that has welcomed the likes of Politics of Dancing, Oshana, and Michelle. Of course, it wasn’t long before his brand Saturn Drive Records was born and with it a podcast series and label and this is where we pick up the story again after we premiered their first release back in 2020. They already began their imprinted story back at the tail end of 2020 with their debut release with original work from badman Christian Burkhardt and a remix from Parisian hotshot Politics of Dancing. With a reduced EP that has been simmered down to an original from label head Alain and a fire remix from iO Mulen it is a digital only outing this time around for Saturn Drive Records. Continuing to be a force to be reckoned with this summer is the prolific Petra Recordings label, six slabs of heat marking number 36 on the label - “Cosmic Breeze”. At the controls they have Istanbul based producer, Sarp Ozaydin, with three originals followed by three stellar remixes from dub techno maestro Havantepe, rising star Ozeil, and O’ner returns off the back of his recent “Another Behavior” EP on the label. 

EP opener “Tears Of The Vale” - is a shimmering sunset trip, the uplifting synths creating a distinctive atmosphere as the deep house drums cruise you deep  the night. Title track “Cosmic Breeze” is an exploration of pure bliss, the elastic bass line creates ainton irresistible groove in combination with the tight drum work from Ozaydin. “Organised Chaos” is a bubbling and hazy journey, light on its feet, and cool to the touch. 

Offering up his vast dub experience in his “Tears Of The Vale” remix is, Havantepe, a sleek and transcending outtake of the original. O’ner also serves up his interpretation of the title track, maintaining the similar energy of the original in terms of depth, combined with his signature warm bass. Ozeil drops “Organised Chaos'' on its head bringing pacey garage house drums to his version, definitely one for the club room! 

Petra continues to evolve, pushing high grade house sounds for the soul! A fantastic curation of breezy summer beats for your collection.
