Pépe joins the Lobster fam after a stunning, twinkling EP of miniature electro & house for Renascence. Taking aim at wider sonic territory, Lemon Fanta showcases the Valencia producers multi-floral sound palette across three shifting times and moodscapes.

Rainfall (Pts I & II) is the long and winding A-side. Sounding like a mid-noughties extended piano house number that could have landed squarely on Running Back, this is a reality-squeezing, rainstick-baiting slab of late eve euphoria. Hand-slapped congos pop under timba, claps and a translucent drum machine bedrock. A warm vibes closer and emotionally charged night ended.

Title track Lemon Fanta ups the zest with an ante-kicked 'n' stepped whizz through stomping drum machine programming and overdriven square-wave basslines, all preceded by enveloping filter-chords and a chatter Spanish lilt.

Benzine Electronics rounds out the release, taking a stop start approach to song structure, hemmed to rhythmically hypnotic underlay of gentle synths, sparkling & stuttering arps, and a soft bed of 808.

Exclusive Joris Biesmans 'Please Fix My Linndrum'

Almost a decade in the business Joris Biesmans certainly knows what makes a crowd move. Playing sets around the globe the Belgian is currently settled in Berlin, where he regularly plays renowned clubs like Watergate, Salon zur wilden Renate or Chalet. But hence is dance floor attraction the producer preferably adds a experimental twist to his musical pieces and therefore creates tracks that leave the repetitive momentum behind. Additionally the Berliner founded his label TVe Recordings not merely to release his vast extraordinary music but to connect with likeminded artists from the scene. The label's fifth release, 'Please Fix My Linndrum', is a three tracker that features the original track, the 909 Dub version of it and a remix from Lord of the Isles. 'Please Fix My Linndrum' is one of these coopting takes as it is built around upwards spiraling synth-patterns creating mental moments on the dance floor without sounding neither too obvious nor repetitive since the whole track depicts a forward-thinking musical process that ties you to the dance floor.

Early in the year Nick Garcia joined PUZL Records with a debut EP that defied genres. His attitude towards experimental sound design and non-structured composition gave us a breath of fresh air. 

“This EP was inspired by the machines I used to make it. I’m always looking for ways to bring technology to life and bring out the souls hidden inside each piece of software and hardware I use in the studio.”

We return to the release with a batch of remixes that continue with that ethos. First up is the legend himself, John Tejada, with a mind-bending rework of ‘Stepmode' that infuses old-school breaks, electronica, pulsing basslines and a host analog detailing. Following up is newcomer to the label Arctor, who’s work quickly caught the ear of Garcia. His remix falls in line with his Experimental, Breaks and DnB hybrid styles. Celestial electronics are always at the heart of James Welsh’s music, via a number releases for labels such as Erol Alkan’s Phantasy Sound, Wolf Music and Hypercolour.  “Hammers” is Welsh’s second release for Futureboogie (following 2013’s “Craven” EP), and finds the UK based producer on particular fine form.

With its airy pads and shrouded ambience, “Hammers” drives a 303 bass line right through its centre, perfectly balancing the tracks emotive and darker sides.

Hodge (Livity Sound/Hemlock) comes on board with an industrial sized remix, carving out some heavyweight tribal drums and additional percussion and letting the acid do its tweakable thing.

“Denergy” meanwhile channels some electro tinged bassline moves over super funky, tight drums, a flourishing acid line, and laced with the futurism and sound aesthetics that’s keeping James Welsh at the top of his game.

Bringing a lustrous dose of disco-doused headiness to Cassy’s Kwench Records imprint is Australian
 producer Kristin Velvet with a stunning two-track outing.
Kristin Velvet has been infiltrating the dance music bubble for a decade on a global-wide scale.
Promoting and DJing in Tokyo was followed by a stint as Australian label manager of UK-based
imprint Domino Records, and most recently she’s enjoying cultivating a reputation as an essential
figure of Berlin’s club scene with her being on Watergate’s artist agency and co-running Berlin-based
house and techno label Arms & Legs with Daniel Steinberg and Nils Ohrmann.

house or techno. Kristin has the flair and ability to experiment with both – she’s had Louie Vega and
Cari Lekebusch give her work a rerub which is proof of her broad appeal. She’s continuously proving

 Inspired by hallowed New York club Paradise Garage meets the ever-multifaceted Robert Hood and
 his alter ego Floorplan, her EP was hewn during a post-raving flash of creativity with her head in the
 studio and heart in the club.
This EP is one built on feelings, with powerhouse track ‘High Ache’ jumping out the bag to grab you
by the ankles. Authentic disco drums build anticipation before the uplifting strings come swinging
through, delivering a euphoric sense of satisfaction. ‘No Worries’ runs further with the disco dice as
we get a second feel-good workout, and it’s one that’s packed with sassy vocals and reach for air
moments.
