Feito isso, após lançar seu EP, Ágatha Barbosa (Cigarra) liberou o sample pack completo de tudo aquilo que usou fazendo assim um convite a quem quisesse brincar com sua caixinha. O resultado disso inspirou a criação deste VA de reedits coletados das respostas espontâneas ao projeto.

Lagartijeando is synonymous with pushing the contemporary Alt-Latin electronic scene forwards along with his contemporaries Nicola Cruz, Cancha Via Circuito and El Buho. Strongly influenced by his travels through Latin America, his signature psychedelic electronic tracks blend everything from traditional folk from the Bolivian alti-plano to the jungle beats of Brazil. 

Since signing to ZZK records (Nicola Cruz, Cancha Via Circuito) in 2009 he has gone on to release on Waxploitation (Gnarles Barkley, Dangermouse) and Wonderwheel Recordings (Nickodemus, El Buho) where his latest album entered the Bandcamp top 100 albums of 2017. Renowned for beautiful textures and layers in his production work, Lagartijeando has garnered support from the likes of The Fader, Remezcla, KCRW, NPR and many others. 

Caboclo is Portuguese for a person with mixed indigenous Brazilian and European ancestry. The three track EP meshes Afro-Brazilian rhythms with Chacarera and house beats. The EP is a celebration of the changing cultures and sounds of Latin America.

After a long wait we are really happy to share Albura Remixed. This is the first time Barrio Lindo has released a remix album of his original music and for this special occasion invited a group of talented fellow producers, and friends, to interpret, reinterpret, deconstruct or reconstruct the tracks from Albura.

That result is a deep journey into the Albura universe with each of the 12 versions giving a whole new life to the original music.

A special thanks to El Búho, SidiRum, Barda, Jin Yerei, Quixosis, Chancha Vía Circuito, Matanza, M, Rux, GrOund, Lagartijeando, Nicola Cruz, Kraut & Spaniol for taking on the task and doing justice to the originals.

Barrio Lindo - Carnaval De Las Flores (Chancha Via Circuito Remix)

Shika Shika is more than happy to present a new Botanas single by Brazilian talent Numa Gama from the Voodoohop Collective. In Numa Gama's words:

"Sounds can transport us in every single way. Right now, we cannot get together so I decided to collect these tracks to give everyone out there the chance to listen and dance. Together still, but in a more diluted spacetime.

This release contains two tracks I used to play a lot on the dance floor, an amazing spontaneous cross remix by Barda and Barrio Lindo, as well as an ambient mix which I couldn't resist to make at the eleventh hour. 
All the sounds were collected from the many recordings I made in Amatlan the Quetzalcoatl, México, in early 2018. Even the echos were extracted from how the sound of the fireworks bounced between the mountains - something you could hear often because of the religious celebrations between November and December. In an improvised home studio, I added percussion, ngoni and guitar layers. The synth sound design for the tracks turned out to have an airy, smooth touch which resembles somehow a West African sounding texture - but from another dimension. As if it was a memory swimming in ether.

I hope more memories will keep being added to the magnetic field that these tracks represent.

Numa Gama - They Re Calling

In Asimétrico, El Remolón presents its new sounds. Native acoustics in organic electronic spaces, successful collaborations, instrumental passages, meditative trance and invitation to movement.

After several years of introspection and studio silence, El Remolón is back with a premiere album. Searching within, in chance haphazard and error, the unfinished or simply imperfect sounds , El Remolón elaborates another sonic horizon that requires putting aside already rehearsed formulas, highlighted labels, closed categories. In this inquiry, the artist even abandons his own ways and closed shapes in Asimétrico. An album that maintains the contagious force of its danceable rhythms and at times delves into a more introspective universe, linked to contemplation.

With folkloric elements in minimalist mode and careful organic electronics, Asimétrico delivers ten crisp pieces that feature Andrés Oddone's master touch in the mix. Simple uses of guitars, legüeros bass drums and charangos are interspersed in criollos ( southamerican folk) riffs that are reminiscent of Atahualpa and, when combined with electronic textures, they generate a restorative, meditative and techno atmosphere at the same time. Between the experimental native and the global downtempo, the album features several songs that follow one another as emotional passages. This is where Asimétrico is enriched with the collaborations of Luvi Torres / Klik & Frik, Pol Nada, Lauphan, Nuriah and the revelation of the urban coplero Brawlio. Meanwhile, the collaborations with San Ignacio, Leo Silcan and Cuervo Cuervo  go deep into a more electronic and instrumental facet. The cover and photos are made by @ancherama.
