"Deco and Mesck team up to present their latest collaborative single on Deceast and their third release together in 2013. 'Transit Method' is a fast-paced, percussion-driven slice of futuristic tribalism replete with sci-fi samples, moody synths and syncopated drum programming. The crisp production showcases some of the duo’s best engineering work to date and has resulted in this track always getting a great response when played on a proper club sound system.
"On the flip, 'Slated; continues with the tribal aesthetic albeit in more of a mellow manner. Subtle female vocals give this song a human touch and the melodic elements bring plenty of musicality to this song’s sonic pallette. The percussion and sub bass play off one another to create momentum and the production quality perfectly suits being paired up with the A side of this release.

Mako & Villem - Kmag, Momentum Promo Mix - 28.11.13

On the 30th December 2013, myself and DJ Stryda met up and put this mix together. For those that aren't familiar with Stryda, he has been a stalwart veteran in the roots scene in Bristol for many years and is half of the internationally acclaimed group, Dubkasm [https://soundcloud.com/dubkasm]

The aim of this mix, much like the other recent roots mixes I have put together, was to piece together and showcase an array of sound and styles that have influenced the music that both me and Stryda create, records that have helped form a foundation for us as musicians and selectors. 

I chose some favourites of mine from Stryda's vast record collection and we started recording. A journey in to dub.

The synergy that we share with the output of Michael Mayer's Kompakt imprint is something that should never be questioned. He's been part of our programming for as long as we can remember and the label's wax output is a staple of most of our visitors’ DJ bags. Last year in fact they just celebrated 20 years in operation, which is no mean feat and most likely down to Mayer’s ongoing day to day commitment to the label and persistent discovery of new talents. With his annual Room One outing scheduled for the weekend ahead we got an opportunity to catch up what's new for 2014 and how sometimes being an in demand remixer as well as A&R takes its toll on his own personal studio time. Mayer has also provided us with a mix to outlay what we can look forward to in the dark hours of the weekend ahead right here in Farringdon.

As a prelude to the upcoming Soul:ution Room Two takeover on Friday 16th May, label boss Marcus Intalex and one of Manchester’s most reliable renegade emcees, DRS, have bumped consciousness and put together this, their ‘Mid Mic Crisis’ mix. Regular sparring partners in clubs the world over, DRS’ trademark measured Mancuian flow rides perfectly atop on Intalex’s soulful selection with his baritone delivery sitting sweetly and filling out the dynamic range of the rolling selections which reportedly feature, in some form, material from DRS’ forthcoming second album, Mid Mic Crisis.

Basically it’s a glorious and specifically tailored 62 minute mixtape showcase of DRS’ potency as a host, an emcee and a vocalist. But it comes mixed by Intalex which more than hints at the level of quality it contains... two of Manchester's finest in sterling form.

MC DRS & Marcus Intalex - Mid Mic Crisis Mix For FABRICLIVE

In preparation for Critical Sound in Room One this Friday, we'd asked a few of the dudes on the lineup to pick a topic and choose some of their favourite examples of it. You can trust Sam Binga to run with an idea though and instead of a list of youtube rips or soundcloud links he just submitted this, his 'Sun Up Windows Down Mix' which is basically his who's who of crunk music. 

Of it the Bristol based producer who's fast re-wiring the way people think about the 160bpm mode, said: "These are some of my favourite voices and beats from the durrty durrty over the years. All this music is massively inspiring for me, and more importantly, it's the ideal stuff to play on the way to the club - bass up, windows down, roll like a G. The mix gets a bit faster and more full on as it goes along, so hopefully by the time you reach the dance, you'll be ready to switch it up for a night of clubbier shit." 

"And don't worry, I won't be playing a crunk set on Friday for Critical Sound!"
