Good show, but (referring to a comment made lade in the podcast), I really wishfolks would NOT repeat the "the world is going to hell and NOBODY is doing anything about it framing", because that is simply not true.  There are actually millions of people doing something about it, but it's often not well publicized.

The Green Party of England and Wales brings so many bold ideas and policy proposals to the mainstream debate ideas like the 4 day week, Universal Basic Income, measuring a happiness index rather than endless growth, and the Green New Deal: a plan to transform our transportation, energy, and economy by spending 100 billion dollars per year for 10-years to reach net zero carbon emissions by 2030.

So, we’re establishing this platform to talk about those Green ideas, to find out more about the fine details of the party’s platform, to understand this growing movement to do what the science requires for the climate, and to go deeper with the people who make up the movement.

Ahead of the UK General Election, we talked to Azzees Minott, Green Parliamentary Candidate for Dagenham and Rainham, chair of the Greens of Colour, about their new commitment document, current state of education in the UK, and the Home Office and Windrush Scandal. We broke it down how children are getting manufactured in a profit-driven system, how corporatised British universities are and the need to decolonize the curriculum. Honduran indigenous land rights defender Berta Cáceres was murdered in March 2016 following her involvement in a grassroots  campaign against a hydroelectic damn on the Gualcarque river. Her death caused international outrage, but has much changed? 

In this episode, we talked to Nina Lakhani, Guardian environmental justice reporter formerly reporting from Central America, on her new book: "Who Killed Berta Cáceres? Dams, Death Squads, and an Indigenous Defender’s Battle for the Planet". 

We talked to Nina about why she wrote the book and why Cáceres became such a global figure, indigenous rights around the world, 'sacrifice zones' and environmental racism, the history of Honduras and Central America, and how we can't understand migration without understanding US imperialism and the culture of impunity and corruption.
