The whole idea of Big Imagination just got my attention from the minute I heard about it. I was completely in love with the project! Are these folks crazy that they are really bringing a Boeing 747 to the Playa? Are those 3 T-rex dancing on the plane? Unbelievable.

Leaving your emotional baggage behind and going through the insecurity checkpoint brings you into a special headspace physically and mentally. After the connection with the crew and receiving the most comfortable hug you realize you are ready for the journey.

Me and Cris44 were playing right after an amazing piano concert that spontaneously popped up in the plane. This was kind of the perfect take off for the night. When I took the cockpit the cruise speed and altitude was just perfect. And I let myself go... As simple as soundtracking a journey to a Burner´s dreams. A great experience that will live inside me forever.

It was an honor to have the opportunity to play on the 747 at Burning Man this year. We vividly remember biking up to the plane and being washed over by a feeling of awe at what stood before us. The sight of the 747 inspired that feeling of butterflies, a mix of tenseness and excitement, something we thought we had overcome.

The setup was spectacular. Here on the Playa was this massive portion of a jumbo jet surrounded by large swaths of LEDs carrying sweeping moods of color that transferred the vibe to the crowd. The quality of the sound system was airtight, it rattled your bones with the bass while still allowing for conversation. The cockpit area of the cabin provided a dance floor with multiple levels, partygoers could easily change their environment from one level to the next. Several catwalks sported exuberant dancers that kept the crowd engaged. Surroundings aside, the party was absolutely going OFF. People were having a blast and the vibe was locked on the dance floor, allowing us to play some of our most hard-hitting tracks. We're always giddy when this opportunity arises and we definitely took full advantage.

We had already been on the playa for a week at this point, and sufficient to say, we had hit full stride 🙂 The setting couldn't be more surreal at the 747, and the Big Imagination family couldn't be more beautiful! This party was off the charts. Vibes were thick, and the jet was ready for take off! We knew we had to bring the heat, while also taking the passengers on a first class voyage. Mission accomplished. The crowd was beyond-bonkers, and we felt the love. This was surely one of the highlights of our 12 days in BRC. The memories of that experience won't soon be forgotten. And thanks to Big Imagination, the magic of the set was captured for those were there to relive the moment and those who weren't to immerse themselves in it  ❤

It was interesting to get inside the airplane and see everyone coming in and out. When I came to the booth and started my set it was simply magical. For me sound is very important and both the sound system  and the lighting was impeccable which got me completely into the mood.  It was another magical moment for me on the Playa and I hope my music tells this story for everyone that listens to this set!

It was Tuesday evening, we were hanging out listening to my dear friends O. Bee and Orazio on the Maxa car when someone reminded me it was time to go play on the 747 jet. This would be my 3rd time having the chance to play at Big Imagination. 

I have always loved planes and to play on a 747 that had captured my own imagination since childhood was even more trippy on the playa. This year it would actually be mobile as a giant art car, and this would be the first night ever it would be fully operational. My crew from Campi Camp jumped on our bikes and flew across the playa to make it on time and lucky us more friends were there to meet us right when we got to the stairs to enter. Total Burning Man unplanned synchronization! 

There was a huge line to get in - something I was not used to seeing at all at burning man but they could only let a certain number of people in at a time for safety reasons. Although we had a lot of people with us, the staff were kind enough to let us all in at once (sorry for all those we skipped) so I could make my start time. Inside the Jet where economy class used to be was a full on nightclub. The vibe was amazing and when I realized it was the Montreal legend and friend MightyKat who was playing before me it made total sense. The energy in the booth when I started and all throughout my set was electric, especially being surrounded by such an amazing crew of friends old and new, and on such an incredibly far out platform. 

The Big Imagination crew had made the entire top level of the 747 the DJ booth and had cut off the roof so when you looked out you could see all of the playa, deep playa and beyond. The sound and feeling were amazing and as I took over everything felt totally in synch. Although we all only had an hour that night I wanted to make the most of mine so although the journey was short I hope you will find it as sweet as it felt on that magical night….one of the best feelings I had in my 8 years at burning man and for me one of the best burns ever.

It was the last sunrise on our beloved Playa, and the morning of Temple Burn. It was also the most beautiful, absolutely surreal transformation of our moon and sun, upon the coldest night of the Burn. The energy, vibe, and temperature, quickly elevated, provided a state of bliss thanks to our all-giving sun! All these elements, along with the citizens of Black Rock City, who lift our spirits, reminded and reassured us that we’re surrounded by pure LOVE! The incredible and unique ART continues to inspire us, igniting our inner light, liberating us from our fears, and encouraging us all to be living our best lives. 

 For us, it’s an absolute pleasure and honor to be a part of such an incredible art project, broadening people’s imaginations and inspiring others to dream BIG! Reminding us of our purpose to prove the testament that MUSIC really is the answer.

How hard is it to find a jumbo jet in the middle of the desert? Apparently, very hard indeed. It literally took us an hour of bicycling around deep playa until we spied a colour changing LED in the distance. Having investigated all the illumination in close proximity, we set out until it resolved into the most beautiful fuselage we have ever seen. The long journey had come to an end and after locking our bikes we ascended the jetway mere minutes before our set was scheduled to begin. 

A quick soundcheck later, the laser show died down and we played our first track. Perched high atop the plane we could see individual dancers moving about like ants far below us, and the upper deck filled with friends new and old. In the middle of our set a swarm of drones took to the skies behind us for a light spectacle that we missed completely, no one told us there were beautiful machines swooping through the air behind us, and we kept our eyes on the equipment and the dance floor far below us. 

Still, it was an absolute pleasure to play on the latest iteration of the plane, and we are always impressed by the sheer scale of this aviation achievement. We hope you enjoy our music, we certainly enjoyed playing it. Fly safe out there :)

As the sun set and the first 3 stars appeared in the sky, the dust finally settled after a rough two days. We gathered from across the Playa - the open hearts, the playa misfits, the loving trouble makers, and one by one boarded the flight, one that would take us beyond any pre-planned travel route. 
As often happens at Burning Man, you can plan an evening, build a lineup, make sure all technical equipment is in place and the playa will still provide you with an adventure of her own.    
It’s the beautiful tension between holding an intention and knowing when to let go and trust that whatever needs to happen will. 
This set was originally planned to be 1.5 hours and ended up running for over 4 hours. As magic manifested on the plane’s deck, the music continuously played and the Playa kept dancing. 
We’re happy to introduce you to Gio Israel's Friday night set featuring acclaimed cellist and musician Hadas Kleinman. Here is the first hour of their extended set that night.
