Following the introspective tones of previously released singles “Tomorrow, I'll be Fine” and “Somewhere Beyond the Sea,” "Acacia" continues to expand Tarçın's versatile musical palette. This piece gently weaves together intimate piano keys and textured strings, reflecting on the subtle beauty and resilience found in life's quiet moments of realization.

“The inspiration for 'Acacia' comes from a white acacia tree partially visible from my studio’s garden. Whenever I step outside for fresh air, my gaze invariably finds this tree. Watching it transition through the seasons — its branches lush green and blooming with white flowers, shedding leaves, bearing winter’s snow, and blossoming anew — has mirrored the cycles of life itself. It’s a kind of reminder to me that some of life’s profound truths are right before our eyes. This piece was born from these reflections. The cover photograph shows the tree itself, capturing one of its beautiful moments.” says Onur.

Acacia

Onur Tarçın - Acacia

Written for 12 piece string ensemble, the piece is based on the sight and feeling of looking out to sea. Using each instrument to evoke the layers of that view, the piece includes random - or aleatoric - elements, allowing the players to interpret parts of the score, meaning no two performances are quite the same - like the sea and sky themselves.

In this piece I am trying to capture trying and failing, improving...moving towards the light.
The opening 3 chord phrase is extended and re-harmonised, growing in length, density and volume each time. After several tonal tangents we eventually succeed in resolving to a home chord of D major in the final bar.

We’re pleased to announce the first track from our new album  ‘The Exquisite Corpse’, created in collaboration with artists from one of our favourite record labels ‘Moderna Records’ and based on the surrealist game.

Taking Leah Kardos ‘Little Phase’ from our Summer Compilation as its starting point, the piece will be reworked by a series of composers and producers to create an album of tracks which continually evolve as each new version is passed from one artist to another, adding to and transforming material from the original piece. We’ll be releasing a new track from the album every 2-3 weeks so keep an eye on our social media for updates!
