Navigated by pushing electric guitar riffs and powerful drums, Davis’ firm vocals call through a kinetic fuzz that simultaneously echoes with rock legends of both past and present, as stage-ready guitar solos soar with striking confidence.

Drawn into a seductive bridge, Davis showcases his sonic depth by creating an ambient contrast to the surging rock layers, with subtle sighs reiterating the song's desire for indulgence, until a final snapping drum solo brings the track to a close.

‘Love's Not Enough’ gets straight to the point, as a rapid trance of recurrent electric guitar riffs and an addictively relentless beat dominates the senses. Davis’ vocals emerge from a time decades past, resonating with an echoing intensity that peaks in the chorus alongside synthesised specks of nostalgic indie-pop in the form of flying synths and running percussion.

A new inquisitive guitar layer joins the mix, moving towards a grungy bridge featuring head moving beats and metallic riffs, before gravelly desperation sneaks into Davis’ voice, a final glance in the rearview mirror before leaving the past behind.

Reflecting on an ended relationship, Davis brings his distinctive lyrical maturity to ‘Love's Not Enough', reaching insightful conclusions that can hopefully provide some closure, as he states:

"As the title suggests, the song is about the fact that sometimes even the forces of love aren’t strong enough to hold two together."

This Won't Hurt A Bit

With the ever-present threat of lock down still lingering in our minds, Big Orange have tapped into a collective anxiety with their new single to be released 17th July 2020. 

‘Apocketlipstick’ finds Big Orange songwriter Daniel Davis channelling the subconscious fears, doubts, and loathing that can bubble to the surface when you’re feeling shackled and drawn. Riding an ominous piano line, ‘Apocketlipstick’ is all edgy restraint, before rupturing with a tectonic burst of staccato horns and punchy guitars. With an off-kilter undercurrent that hints at psychedelia, ‘Apocketlipstick’ is a trip sure destined to leave a lasting impression. Although the song itself was written pre-pandemic, it feels a fitting soundtrack to the apocalypse that we find ourselves in now.

Recorded and mixed by Dave Parkin at Blackbird Studio, ‘Apocketlipstick’ provides a further taste of the forthcoming Big Orange LP.
