Single Malt Drinker

Day Drinker

A fragile slice of silver sand
Seems no bigger than my hand
All that's left of what we still call home
A drunken line of weary palms
Defeated troops still bearing arms
I can't remember feeling so alone

We're shipping out tonight
To face a less than certain future
We're running from a fight we'll never win

Don't say you know how it feels
Just admit you know it's real
Just admit it's something we all share
Something in the air

We stood and watched our gardens drown
Nothing grows on salty ground
Our way of life dissolving in the waves
There's something wrong in paradise
The clouds deceive, the Cosmos lies
We've lost our bearings and our fathers' graves

We're shipping out tonight

We're praying that someone will take us in

Meanwhile on the far side of the planet
A wildflower is running out of time
