The Boxing Day floods are well remembered in North West England. Rivers and roads overflowed and came right into people's houses. In Salford, the River Irwell broke its banks and decimated Spike Island. (Thankfully, it won't happen again. The awful experiences led to a campaign and the result was the Salford Flood Basin, which now will divert flood water, out of the way. Well done to all residents who spoke up and made that happen.)
This 'new' song is basically new words by Mike Scantlebury to an old song by Woody Guthrie, (just as Woody Guthrie wrote words for old tunes himself. A fine tradition. Thanks, Woody.)
