DANCING THERAPY X Magenta 15 Years (Retrospective Mix)

To celebrate 15 years of Magenta Skateboards, DANCING THERAPY did a deep dive into the brand’s history — revisiting every skate video they've dropped since day one.

We handpicked the most iconic tracks that shaped Magenta’s unique audiovisual identity, and crafted a 3-hour retrospective mix — a sonic journey through 15 years of style, soul, and VX vibes.

The mix premiered at Nozbone Skateshop in Paris (11th arrondissement) during the anniversary party on Friday, June 20, 2025. A big moment, surrounded by friends, skaters, and good energy.

Much love to the Magenta crew for keeping it real all these years.


DANCING THERAPY — Magenta 15 Ans (Mix Rétrospectif)

Pour fêter les 15 ans de Magenta Skateboards, DANCING THERAPY a plongé dans l’histoire de la marque — en revisionnant toutes les vidéos sorties depuis le tout début.

On a sélectionné les musiques les plus iconiques qui ont façonné l’identité audiovisuelle unique de Magenta, pour créer un mix rétrospectif de 3 heures — un voyage sonore à travers 15 ans de style, d’âme et d’esthétique VX.

Le mix a été diffusé pour la première fois au Skateshop Nozbone à Paris (11e) lors de la soirée anniversaire le vendredi 20 Juin 2025. Un grand moment, entourés de potes, de skateurs et de bonnes ondes.

Un grand respect à Magenta pour ces 15 années de passion et d’authenticité.


MAGENTA 15 YEARS — Retrospective Mix

Billy Rohan’s unique technique and flowing style on his board made all the next level tricks he did in the 90s in New York legendary in the city and around the world since he nailed them.

So, we were stoked after chatting with him briefly about skating to discover that he raps, and has released a series of solid tracks that we had never heard before.

Having a lot of skill on a skateboard is usually a good sign that a skater has another creative talent hidden up their sleeve. For Billy this has been the records inside the sleeves of iconic rap albums and hip hop gems he's heard over the years, that inspired him to make his own music.

After giving his tracks a listen and getting hyped on his lyrics and beats, we had to ask him for a few words about his music and a playlist of artists who have influenced him and he sent over a load of sick tunes, that we've had on rotation.

The Big picture

Sébastien Daurel est beaucoup plus qu’un simple skateur de rampe, c’est un activiste de la première heure. Il dédie sa vie au skate depuis 30 ans, un temps amateur, puis professionnel, ensuite c’est la vie active et il devient le GO du skatepark Hangar Darwin à Bordeaux.

Dans cette seconde partie Sébastien revient sur le moment où les sponsors s’arrêtent, la naissance de sa fille Lucie, la vie active, l’EMB avec Marc Haziza, la révélation de la musique indienne et de la méditation, filmer pour la vidéo Minuit, croiser Tom Penny, et les coulisses du fameux SebDo Show avec Léo Valls. Jérémie Daclin est un skateboardeur lyonnais, fondateur de la marque de planches Cliché, et aujourd’hui c’est le marché du truck qu’il investit avec Film. On le considère comme l’autre doyen du skate français, alter-ego du parisien Stéphane Larance. Entre ses différents projets et son envie de défendre la culture skate, Jérémie se confie dans ce nouvel épisode. 

Il raconte son parcours en tant que skateboardeur, puis en tant qu’entrepreneur. C’est d’abord le skate-shop All Access, puis Cliché en 1997, et Film en 2018. À travers ces expériences, GG revient sur les voyages, les rencontres, la vidéo et l’image en général, collaborer avec les photographes, gérer un team, skater avec Mark Gonzales, affronter des échecs, et se faire plaisir en skate après 40 ans. Mondkopf's words about his participation:
"In 2019, I received a proposal from the Médiathèque Musicale de Paris for a concert during a "Music and Nature" cycle. For the occasion, they offered to come and search their collection of records to find material and offer a live in the form of my choice. I chose to focus at the beginning on the recordings of whales and other cetaceans, and then I drifted towards the forest, where I heard all kinds of birds and wolves. All these animals have in common a very singular language, with an impressive number of frequency variations. By focusing on it, I really heard conversations as complex as that of humans. So I used this material to create a kind of animal choir, which would sing with my own tools and for the public. I had spotted a piano in the room where I was to play, and on the day of the concert, I decided to improvise on it to accompany wolves, owls, and other night animals. The live I offer for Echos of Species is a second recording of this live made at home, with better recording conditions. I kept the live piano of the first performance at the end because I doubt that I would have managed to recreate this moment :) Good listening and be kind to the planet !"

Paul Régimbeau, aka Mondkopf, is a household name among the edgiest international festivals such as ATP, LUFF, Bozar or CTM, post-industrial warehouses of northern Europe, industrial parties (Berghain in Berlin, Kaos in London) as well as more solemn atmospheres of churches, museums (BAL, Pompidou Center in Paris) or auditoriums (Philarmonie de Paris, Lyon’s Auditorium). Mondkopf has put forward his talents as a live artist, giving his melodic ambient music a power and a rager inspired by extreme metal. After a long period of solitary evolution, he has developed in this last years multiple collaborative projects, with Charlemagne Palestine, Saaad (in Foudre), Autrenoir, Oiseaux-Tempête, the Japanese black metal band Vampilia and the noise American artist Pete Swanson (in VMO), Libanese guitarist Charbel Haber (in Good Luck In Death). After co-founding In Paradisum records in 2011, he has been running since 2018 the record label Nahal Recordings with Frederic D. Oberland, gathering a community of outsiders around a shared passion for live improvisation, the mix of rock structures and sound synthesis, and cinematographic atmospheres.
 
Wire Magazine described his last album, They fall but you don’t, as the "the only music that fits that once promising and much abused term power ambient: massive sharp-edged drones, slow lightning cracks of guitars, Tangerine Dream synths curling around one another, everything glowering with an inner intensity that still feels closely reined in". Indeed, while  Mondkopf’s music has long been rather dark, heavy and abrasive, his trajectory testifies for a profound attachment to a sound that associates harmonic flourishment with experimentation, which doesn’t come as a surprise when you learn that he grew up listening to Tangerine Dream, Steve Reich, Terry Riley, Morton Feldman, Brian Eno, Ash Ra Temple or even Vangelis.
