This month's podcast is one that's very close to our hearts; from our very own family member Tom Moxham aka 'quince'. Tom has been a vital player to the SUNANDBASS core team for many years; maybe you've met or chatted with him along the way, or caught his sets in 2018 & 2019, or maybe you enjoyed listening to the podcasts that he curated during his time with us? 

Although Tom has moved on to new adventures, he will always be one of the SUNANDBASS family, and after all of his years curating the podcast, we are now honoured to have him come back for his own mix this month, and what a mix it it!

"Having curated the podcast for the last 2 years and worked for SUNANDBASS for the last 6 years, doing a guest mix for the podcast is something I have wanted to do for some time, and it felt lovely to be asked. Having been lucky enough to play the Beach Stage and Ambra Night Gazebo the last two festivals, this mix really is exactly the sort of set I'd have planned for those if this year was happening. It's a showcase of as much of the new music I've loved since we last were all together, and what I completely envisaged hearing throughout the festival, but with one track that will forever be the track I've loved hearing most at SUNANDBASS. Maybe some of you will know it and feel the same. Colossal love to all of you and I hope I've captured just some of the essence of what might have been emitting from San Teodoro next month."

Simstah from Bern Switzerland is one half of Drum&Bass production outfit Konfront.Audio which is featured on a number of international labels such as Flexout, Demand, Fokuz, Syndrome, Soul Deep and Citrus to name a few. Simstah started out Djing at the very early age of ten. After being hooked on Drum&Bass in 1996 he branched out into production in 2008 and is currently working on several different studio projects. Simstahs musical taste encompasses the broad spectrum of Drum&Bass, but he likes to work on the more down-tempo side of things as well. He landed his first solo-release on Structured music in 2015 and has releases on Blendits Audio, Jazzsticks, Flight Pattern, Dutty Audio, Syndrome Audio and Re:st . Apart from production Simstah is regularly playing at major Swiss Events such as Darkside at Dachstock Berne or Mute at Hive Zürich.

The last set of the week in our „first timers“ series comes from Bailey. It actually isn’t the set he played back in 2004 at the first official SUNANDBASS edition (although it had been recorded by Drum&Bass Arena for World of Drum&Bass - they might even have it in their archives). It’s Bailey’s interpretation of the SUNANDBASS classics, and it’s beautiful. 

Bailey is one of four artists that have played at every SUNANDBASS edition - the others are crew members ArpXP, Soulsurfer and Delicat. That’s what makes him an „all timer“ for us. He usually stays for the whole week plus some additional days before and after the festival. His B2B with A Sides (also known as Baysides) at La Posta in the town center starts and closes the week. It’s the first time in 17 summers we didn’t meet, at least we have this contribution from him. He is such a versatile DJ, always ready to go (hey B, we need a DJ and presenter over here…), and he can play across a wide ranges of styles suited to the situation. We’re lucky to have him as part of the core family!

All Timers: Bailey's SUNANDBASS Classics

DJ Big T is a tall Hip-Hop, Soul Funk and Drum`n Bass DJ living now in Switzerland and eventually doing some lounge intellectual (funk, soul, jazz, brazilian beats, oldschool hip hop…) sets all over the world. He already performanced alongside big DJs like: Marky, Ge-Ology, Calibre, Makoto, Doc Scott, S.P.Y., and many more in places like Dubai, Italy and Lebanon.

Living in Geneva since 2010, Big T has already performanced at all the main venues in the city and has already his spot as a local DJ.
