ELTE - Felt Good EP

Gatluak is a collaboration between Kronan and South-Sudanese activist and war survivor NYARUACH. Gatluak tells a fierce feminist message by calling out “boring men with no plan”. Nyaruach's playful song reclaims a woman's dignity after getting burned in love. Kronan turned this message into an incredibly catchy summer single that is the perfect kick-off for his upcoming EP 'Jameela'.

I’ve been obsessed with AMANZI’s voice for months. It’s uniqueness, power, vulnerability and character blew me away from the very first moment listening. So I contacted her and hopped on a plane to Brighton. We spent the whole day in the studio recording stuff and in the evening I returned to my hotel room exhausted ready for an early night. But then…. I listened back to some of the recordings. And this sentence was like magic! I made the basis of this tune that same evening and finished it a week after. I think it’s definitely an earworm but not in a cheesy way. Instrumentation is heavily inspired by disco, funk and soul music. Chords are highly emotional. It’s another case of melancholy meets happiness. And I think it turned out really great. All praise to AMANZI though for being an amazing person and having a wonderful and unique voice.

I made it at a very happy and special moment in my life and I think you can hear that in the recording. If you’re ever wondering what the Bakermat sound is exactly, this song comes pretty close to incorporating almost all the elements I love. Genre mixing, strong pianos, disco strings and of course my beloved sax. I hope you’ll enjoy this as much as I do!
