Why is this major summer 2018 Baiana vines

Gatluak is a collaboration between Kronan and South-Sudanese activist and war survivor NYARUACH. Gatluak tells a fierce feminist message by calling out “boring men with no plan”. Nyaruach's playful song reclaims a woman's dignity after getting burned in love. Kronan turned this message into an incredibly catchy summer single that is the perfect kick-off for his upcoming EP 'Jameela'.

First of all I’d like to thank Salif Keïta for giving me the opportunity to work with the original vocal stems of his classic song ‘Madan’ and giving me permission to release my own version of this song. I’ve been in love with the original for so long now and I’m so grateful I could give it my own twist. 

For this tune I went for the sound that I’m most known for. It’s a typical ‘Bakermat’ mix of piano, saxophone, guitar, choir vocals and bass that will be pretty recognizable. I did experiment a little too though! The drop is mostly inspired by Electro House I downloaded on blogs around 2010, and it also is one of the first times I’m using an acoustic guitar like this. 

All together it’s a track I loved creating and I’m really excited for people to hear this. I think it can serve as a really good summer anthem!

Bakermat - Madan(King)

With this record the title actually says it all; making it was pure fun! Couldn’t be happier to have two-time grammy winner Ann Nesby feature on the vocals. Her voice is so full of energy and strength, and the lyrics are really positive and inspiring. I think the tune overall is a celebration of positivity and love in any form. You can dedicate the lyrics to whomever or whatever gives you joy! In terms of ingredients this track is very rich; from piano, bass, strings, organs, percussion and vocals to the ultimate Bakermat weapon: saxophone! Combined they make for an effective dance floor killer that radiates positivity and simply does what I always try to do with my music: it makes people happy!

I'm not the first to use this amazing sample from Dr. Charles Hayes and the Cosmopolitan Church of Prayer Choir but I think I definitely gave it my own unique twist. I love the pure, unfiltered energy of the choir. I went for a pretty old school production style to keep this as raw and unpolished as possible but also combined old and new elements to create a mix of different styles. I think overall this resulted in a playful record that I had a lot of fun making. Hope you guys will like it too!

The combination between my feelgood, summer style production and Nicole's deep and soulful voice results in a unique tune packed with emotions but also with a sort of lightness. Nevertheless the song bears an important message: If you believe in yourself and keep your head up high nobody can bring you down!
