There is a little bit of excitement in the air on the latest edition of Global DJ Broadcast, and the reason why is that for the first time in three years, one of the biggest weeks in the dance music calendar has arrived; as thousands of clubbers and industry members descend upon Markus Schulz's home city of Miami, for a host of major parties.

Markus is delighted to be able to resume a tradition, and present to you the annual Miami Music Week Edition, showcasing the biggest sounds emanating from the conference, as well as influencing DJ sets and playlists for the remainder of 2022. ockkie (real name: Jock) is an producer, dj & digital artist coming from Rotterdam, the Netherlands.

Jockkie is always optimistic, down to earth and out of the box thinking. He can be wild and stormy, but also peaceful and calm in the eye of the storm, like his personality, productions and style.

Born in 1986, Jockkie has grown up with Suriname root music, Jazz, RnB and other electronic music. He has closely being involved in the growing music culture by working at some clubs in Rotterdam and did some b2b’s gigs in his youth.

Jockkie found his love for music back in the melodic techno and started a weekly mixtape, called Chimére radioshow, on his SoundCloud & Inprogressradio. His mission with the radioshow is to close the gap between upcoming talents and well known artists in the melodic techno scene.

Since then his name is growing and being respected, because he is trying to take everyone in his journey. Next to being part of the DHA community, he is also working on his concept:

"Walk" follows on from "360 Degrees Of Nowhere". This piece is quite unique because of how it was made and the fact that it is all sound design. Essentially it is a fusion of African Drums, acoustic and electronic sampling. To make the piece work, I referred to the template I used in "360 Degrees Of Nowhere". I stripped back the Ableton file to the bare essentials. It means I kept the percussive components of the work and then added layer after layer (all samples). This piece feels like the percussion work I've been wanting to make. It has an experimental feel about it and it works. For some reason the combination of sounds came together quite nicely.

The soundscape is an illustration of walking through the South African Karoo. As I've indicated before, the landscape is vast with many unearthed secrets and places. The rhythm illustrates a heart beating with the binary movement we create when walking or hiking. One foot in front of the other, it is the same when we run. So, imagine what your body would feel like when you walk or run in the South African Karoo in the heat of the day with the sun beating down you, sweat dripping onto your shoes and your shirt clinging to your back. Nothing else matters, it is just you and the elements of nature.  The music video is available on Youtube -
