As we reach our final release of the year we want to take the time to say a big thank you to all the supporters new and old. Without you guys, and not forgetting the artists we have featured this year, Instigate Recordings would not be what it is today.

INSTi011 comes from none other then one half of the production duo Valac. His debut release on Instigate showcases a more technical side to his productions and over the last few months we have seen Luke (Binary) go from strength to strength, landing himself a deal with the highly regarded Encrypted Audio. Since his first outing with his solo project on ENC - Luke has proven his talents as a producer by not limiting himself to just one style around the 140 tempo range. His release with us showcases some of the earlier stages of his productions as Binary, focusing on that minimal heavy, bass driven tech style and swung percussion with nail bitting reese design. 

Raised in Denver, Colorado - Luke first found dubstep through and early affiliation with the well known bass music events organisation Sub.Mission. His introduction to DJing came in his later school years, through involvement in local DJ competitions. It wasn’t long until he caught the production bug and citing influences such as Distance, Plastician, Toasty, Pinch and Biome we can see how his formative years in producing have taken him to the styles he’s pushing out today. 

Tech, triplets, tension and trauma all describe the sounds that form the Deprivation EP, one for the dark room heads this release is sure to cause some damage on dance floors worldwide. Featuring a collaboration with the rising star in the deep scene, Dillard - Binary shows versatility in repetition, crafting a beautifully evolving collection of tracks, each one showcasing a different vibe and style while remaining in the same vein.

Pure Rubedo submerges us into the surreal and celestial world of Soramimi. This is the New York based artist’s second solo EP on her label, Dusk Notes. With a deep exploratory sound known for being challenging and confrontational, yet still concerned with being aesthetically compelling, Soramimi reveals five tracks that are meant to reconcile sensuality and discomfort, beauty and turbulence.

In alchemy, the redness of life is called the rubedo. In this redness there is a warmth and an open consciousness. Redness is passion, purification, and pneuma (spirit). It represents all that is creative, individual, and positive. In today’s atmosphere of collective anxiety and uncertainty, it is important now more than ever to transcend our shadows and celebrate our awareness and awakeness, and our vitality.

Hypn​otizing and honest, ​Pure Rubedo pricks your psyche and disturbs your aural sense of order, and invites you to confront your own subconscious. The A side marches with gusto, telling tall tales of energetic chaos. The B side responds with the allure of more expansive and deeper musings.

We are extremely happy to welcome another talented crew from Italy in the Moonshine family. 
D-Operation Drop is a project born in 2010 thanks to the encouter of 5 university students wich found themselsves sharing the same house and more importantly, love for music (In 2013 Zeemo joins the Crew, modifying the formation from 5 to 6 elements).
After a couple of early collaborations, almost casual, Uniradio Cesena gives to D-Operation Drop the chance to lay the foundations of an underground music program on air twice a week. Thanks to this experience the group officially finds its frame and looks forward
to its new goals such as producing, dj'ing and vj'ing. To date D-Operation Drop, after almost seven years of experience, has
received support from Artists like J:Kenzo, Distance, N-Type, Icicle, Radikal Guru & many others. Releasing music with notable labels such as Lion Charge, Artikal Music UK, Subaltern and now Moonshine Recordings.

Bio: Binary is a professional "cooler", a specialized bouncer, with a mysterious past who is enticed from his job at a club in New York City by Frank Tilghman to take over security at his club/bar, the Double Deuce, in Jasper, Missouri. Tilghman plans to invest substantial money into the club to enhance its image and needs a first-rate cooler to maintain stability.

Arriving in Jasper, Binary eventually takes lodging at a local farm owned by Emmett. He attracts attention driving his 1965 Buick Riviera and having a quiet demeanor—contrasting with the tough locals. Binary’s "real" car is a 1986 Mercedes 560SEC with New York license plates, which he keeps hidden because it becomes a target for disgruntled bar patrons. Binary is soon introduced to local business magnate (and next door neighbor) Brad Wesley, who appears to have a stranglehold on the town; little happens without his knowledge and approval. In the course of cleaning up the violent nightclub, Binary dismisses several unruly and corrupt employees, some of whom are connected with Wesley. After one particularly violent night where Binary is forced to physically remove Wesley's henchmen, he suffers a knife wound. Going to the hospital for stitches, he strikes up a friendship with Dr. Elizabeth "Doc" Clay, which develops into a romantic relationship.

Wesley summons Binary to his home in a seemingly innocent attempt to make peace, but has an ulterior motive: Wesley would like Binary to work for him once he extorts Tilghman's club. He reveals knowledge of Binary’s past by mentioning an incident where Binary killed a man in Memphis, Tennessee, then claimed self-defense at the trial. When Binary declines, Wesley begins an assault on Binary’s friends, including interfering with liquor deliveries to the Double Deuce. Binary's mentor, legendary but aging cooler Wade Garrett, arrives in town after a disconcerting phone call from Binary and helps him defend a liquor shipment from Wesley's thugs.

That evening, the auto parts store of local business owner Red Webster is destroyed by a fire after he refuses to give ground to Wesley's persistent extortion demands. Binary, not wanting to exacerbate matters, allows Wesley and his men entrance to the club that night. However, Wesley deploys Jimmy, a violent ex-con and skilled martial artist, to start a brawl with the Double Deuce bouncers. After a brief skirmish with Binary, Wesley calls an end to the fight and leaves the club.

The next day, car dealership owner Pete Stroudenmire becomes Wesley's next victim when he also refuses to pay. As a result, Wesley has one of his goons, Gary Ketchum, demolish the dealership and crush four station wagons in the showroom with his monster truck, making some of the people cheer as Binary and his friends look on with contempt.

That night, Doc visits Binary and attempts to persuade him to leave. However, their conversation is interrupted by a powerful explosion at Emmett's house next door. Binary rescues Emmett from the blaze before his house is destroyed. He then witnesses Jimmy fleeing the scene and manages to intercept him. After a vicious fight, Jimmy points a pistol at Binary, and Binary kills him by ripping out his throat with his bare hand. The next morning, Binary receives an ominous phone call from Wesley, who vows to have either Wade or Doc killed by the flip of a coin. After Wesley hangs up leaving the outcome unknown, a badly beaten Wade staggers into the Double Deuce. Believing Doc to be in danger, Binary races to the hospital alone, but she refuses to leave with him, repulsed by his increasingly violent nature. Upon returning to the Double Deuce, Binary finds Wade sprawled out on the bar with a knife lodged in his chest and a note reading "It was tails." In tears of rage, Binary pulls the knife free and jumps into his car, determined to settle the score with Wesley.
