A [collectively run] cooperative music and technology institute.

Realm of mist is a space for collaborative musical innovation. Musicians come here to work and learn together. Music producers and sound engineers also work with musicians here to enhance their skills and tracks. We are creating a network of highly skilled music professionals who can collaborate and support other international artists.

We support the development of the space entirely through volunteering. We need your support to develop our infrastructure, farm, and equipment to a stage where we can initiate the operations of the space.

Realm of Mist institute works closely with the online event management portal MapJam.co.ke. R.O.M. supports MapJam’s initiatives by providing the equipment and space for the production of content involved with MapJam.

We are an open collaboration learning institute. What we do is bring together musicians to teach each other by collaboratively executing audio projects.

Since 2009 the brothers are curating the intercultural collaboration project BLNRB (Berlin ↔ Nairobi) together with the Goethe Institute Kenya. More than 25 artists and bands such as Jahcoozi, Modeselektor, Ukoo Flani, Nazizi & Abbas Kubaff cooperated in several studio sessions and performed several concerts in Kenya and Germany. The album "Welcome to the Madhouse" will be released in July 2011 on Outhere Records.

The track's development is engrossing, forged in the crucible of a collective dedicated to the advancement of East African cultural interests, through live festival jams and lightning-quick studio sessions. It's too long and detailed to tell here – you'll have to cop the physical release for the full story splayed across the inlay.
This radio-ready version of "Koko's Vibration", mixed and produced by Esa and Ambrose Akula Akwabi (a the man known as the 'East African Mr Fingers', fact fans), adds a subtle gloss to the rough takes floating about the web, but loses not an iota of passion. That means spirited yelps, polyrhythmic drumming, hooks flying in from all angles, and those wicked Onyeabor-esque keyboard runs. It arrives soon as part of the Highlife Series; they've gone from Cuba to Kenya, and soon to Uganda. Like we said: real good music made with real good intentions by real good guys.

Sarabi "Koko's Vibration" - Boiler Room Debuts

Jarife Africa is a group from Kisumu, Western Kenya, on the shores of Lake Victoria (a.k.a. ‘the slim coast’) The group is composed of Culture G, MC Roba and King Emmanuel Biggoman. In 2007 Jarife Africa recorded their debut album entitled “Recent News” which has now been released on Soundcloud and Vibedeck so far.
The ‘Jaf Crew’ produce solid consciousness sometimes woven into cautionary tales. Their lyrics:English, Luo and Kiswahili all mashed together for an ital dancehall-a-go-nice sure to be respected worlwide. Jarife Afrika energetically discuss the issues of of politics, love, culture and the music industry surrounding their lives.“Recent News” a come along a bumping bongo flava dat remind you of driving on a bus to Kisumu in the '90s with Dr. John and Dancehall banging over da speakers.
