Our BIO0023 comes to open our new series of authorial releases! We continue another season of travel around the world… This time, in a tropical vibe on our Atlantic coast, in the sea of Barra do Pote on Itaparica Island, where our Immersive biomer created this beautiful strip. Initially idealized on the guitar, the song emerged from the attempt to translate the peace that is being there in that place through a rhythm that refers to cumbia, only in a slower and unpretentious perspective with some textures and layers of guitar. The remixes take the essence of the arrangement to different scenarios, bringing new guises to Maralto. The Oriental Rework version signed by producer Dallanoras brings a more ethno lounge feature with percussions and vocals, while the Cumbia Rework version signed by producer Fernando TRZ brings a more Latin feature with synths and pianos in an intense atmosphere.

Nosso BIO0023 vem para abrir nossa nova série de lançamentos autorais! Seguimos mais uma temporada de viagens mundo adentro… Dessa vez, numa vibe tropical na nossa costa atlântica, no marzão de Barra do Pote na Ilha de Itaparica, lugar onde nosso biomer Imersivo criou esta belíssima faixa. Inicialmente idealizada no violão, a música surgiu da tentativa de traduzir a paz que é estar lá naquele local através de um ritmo que remetesse a cumbia, só que em uma perspectiva mais desacelerada e despretensiosa com algumas texturas e camadas de violão. Os remixes levam a essência do arranjo para diferentes cenários, trazendo novas roupagens para Maralto. Na versão Oriental Rework assinado pelo produtor Dallanoras traz uma característica mais ethno lounge com percussões e vocais, já na versão Cumbia Rework assinada pelo produtor Fernando TRZ traz uma característica mais latina com synths e pianos em uma atmosfera intensa.

Sambassim is a track composed by Fernanda Porto and remixed by DJ Patife in Brazil back in early 2000s. The track was really important not only for diffusing the Drum and Bass clubber culture across the country, but also and also for being innovative in mixing Brazilian Popular Music (MPB) with DnB. CPF is a São Paulo based DJ that experienced this culture in his youth and now produces sets and edits merging elements of different Brazilian music styles with psychedelic downtempo.

patrícia polayne is not only an amazing singer-songwriter and one of the most important artists from my state - Sergipe, in the northeast of Brazil - but she is also my sister. since i was a kid i knew she would be an amazing artist and i'm proud to be her first fan. and because i'm a fan, i'm always a little scared of using one of her songs and desecrate her incredible music, but i'm also not known for having much sense, so here it is. this is a live-edit made with the vocals and some drums of her unfinished song "a roda" in which i added some effects, percussions, beats and samples from miret and venga venga, spaniol, nana vasconcelos, francis etto and mrux.

World BEAThoven Project:

On the occasion of the 250th anniversary of nature enthusiast, humanist, visionary and composition genius Ludwig van Beethoven, an international network under the direction and idea of ​​cultural manager Darius Darek (Taxi MunDJal MusiX) produced an extraordinary album: Twenty melodies from Beethoven's works were recorded on non-European musical instruments by musicians based in the Cologne-Bonn region. This sample databank was created under the direction of Hans Zimmer's sample library developer Felix Ohlert and was then used by music producers worldwide as the basis for new tracks of electronic music.
The album now being released will be presented at festivals and in clubs and rearranged for a 35-piece brass orchestra (Youth Brass Band NRW).

As Darius Darek's academic background is geography, he has implemented sustainable, degrowth and minimalism based, fair, green, common-good-oriented and alternative ways of life into this music project. A transdisciplinary designed artivism towards a socio-ecological transformation: 

- to promote „cultural diversity“ the project is a collaboration with musicians of diverse music cultures to record a sample databank.

- to promote „cultural heritage“ the project aims to upcycle & remix almost forgotten music by worldwide electronic music producers.

- to promote „creative commons“ the sample databank and the remixes can be used and listened to for free.

- to promote „socio-ecological projects“ the remixes are presented at green, transformational or zero waste festivals, at intergenerational bicycle rides or in „freeboxes“ (https://tinyurl.com/freeboxvideo).

- to include „citizen participation“ a random local youth involvement and a worldwide production contest (in cooperation with Arts Council England) were carried out: www.globallocal.co.uk/remixspace/

- the project thus supports some of the sustainable development goals (SDGs): reduced inequalities, sustainable cities and communities, quality education, gender equality and climate action.

The Brazilian Lisbon-based multifaceted artist Cigarra (Ágatha Barbosa) has been clearly showing versatility as a producer. Despite her immersive research of sample appropriation - plunderphonics and copyleft - unveiling a popular, peripheral, contemporary, global blend production; Cigarra's last EP titled "Ato" (released on the beloved Tropical Twista Records, 2018) stepped away a little from the dancefloor and pushed her creative process to the forefront of an intersection between music, theater, protest, performance, communication and emotion.

Evolving skills over experiences and performing with other narrative languages, the three tracks on "Ato" showcase collaborative productions from distinct artistic niches and differ from those found in her first "Limbica" EP; showing a more refined, accurate Cigarra's side; including being able to recreate politely from samples, lines, field recordings, noises, voices that were turned into bases and bass lines. Being the track with the most feedback from the EP, "Tu No Me Vas" reflects the message that Cigarra carries with herself today and also part of the soundtrack for Cia. Nosotras's “Prantos Invisíveis” acting, a strong and urgent track of women marching on, cracking up everything wherever they go.The phrase that kicks off the production was taken from a song by Franco-Chilean singer Ana Tijoux, in this context, the graft is fervently sung by the actresses in the respective play, having its first version recreated and adapted in order to get an oriented-dancefloor setting, reverberating a poetic portrait of the immigration of Latin American women to Sao Paulo. Somehow, it reflected an ability to connect with the listener without following usual cues in music.

Vocal textures, various moods, and crafty rhythms. These sentences outline what this EP brings to the table. With contrasting and complementary lines to some extent, the choice of artists to create remixes came organically, uniting expressions and interpretations; weaving through floating ambiance, pop-infused pastures, funk 150bpm and vocals featuring throughout. Maracuyá brought in an ethereal interpretation, relinquishing the original samples of voices, and adding strengthness coming from other female singing voices by Guápil, original Costa Rican music project. The Japanese experimental-wizard Ground features a delicate version with more organic midtempo creative references. R Vincenzo with his peculiar performing style and techniques related with 'baile funk' universe (Brazilian popular electronic scene), uses the machines for repetition, vocal percussion and hypnotic collages. Finishing up the package, the Brazilian duo Venga Venga goes from the eccentricity of remote cultures to the most metropolitan subversion, genuinely reinterpreting it.

Well beyond her assured rhythmic touch that underpins previous works, Cigarra stays intuitive. With a passion for celebrating global female sounds, she manages the label Hystereofônica, constantly featuring cutting edge artists in an intense attempt to provide "visibility to half of the planet that lives in the shadow of the history", because no matter what kinda music you were into, there are women making it with just as much class, skill and passion as men do. Then, fleeing from the strictly musical plan and running away from conventions, which is taken from the experimental freedom in her work, she kept the alternative world close to her craft.

"Try her," the waiter said gravely as though he were speaking of a mare. Nearly a year before we’ve released the precious “A.manhã EP” by Brazilian wizard ElPeche.
