Prince Fatty and the Horseman are well known for their hip hop versions such as "Shimmy Shimmy Ya" as used in the infamous Breaking Bad series, DJ Muggs personal reggae favourite "Insane in the Membrane" and many more Raggamuffin specials.

It is well documented that the DNA of hip hop has its roots in dub and reggae from the concept of versions, sound systems, selectors and MCs and so on. New York and the East Coast has had large Jamaican community since the 60s the musical influence is similar to us here in the UK.

The Jamaica Funk club night hosted at the Fox and Firkin celebrates and high lights the musical journey as Reggae inspired Hip Hop in the early 80s and how the roles changed as Hip Hop developed and went mainstream it inspired the Jamaicans in reverse. Artists such as Super Cat and Shabba Ranks confirm this on vinyl in our collections.

A live dub tutorial, showing the fundamental principles of recording and mixing, discussing the concept of versions, alternative mixes and how to cut dub plates and specials.
Prince Fatty will disect and breakdown some of his favourites such as Shimmy Shimmy Ya and other songs live with the original files using a mixing desk to demonstrate the construction and musical instrumentation involved. Detailed recording sessions will be revealed with legends such as Gregory Issacs, WInston Francis, Cornel Campbel, Marcia Griffiths, Big Youth and more.

Nick Manasseh is a pioneer DJ, Radio Broadcaster, Record Producer and Sound Engineer complemented by a Jedi knowledge of Reggae music. Having worked and recorded many great artists such as Dennis Brown, Johnny Osbourne, Sugar Minott, Earl 16 and sound system MCs such as Josie Wales, Charlie Chaplin, Brother Culture and Brigadier Jerry.

Nick Manasseh alongside Prince Fatty stay true to analog traditions and preserve the recording and mixing techniques pioneered by the greats such as King Tubby and Scientist.

Club Night Sets from both Prince Fatty and Manasseh to follow with MCs Horseman and Brother Culture, special guest DJ sets from Josh from The Skints and Prince Fatty's DJ Posse featuring the turntable skills of Natty and Noah.

Dreadsquad, AKA Marek Bogdanski, returns to the scene with the second and third instalments of his Riddim Machine series. As part of a collaboration consisting of Dreadsquad’s own Superfly Studio and the renowned Moonshine Recordings, listeners are in for a treat, courtesy of Poland’s  most prolific reggae dancehall producer. As ever, Dreadsquad manage to encapsulate all evolutions of reggae – from rocksteady , roots and rub-a-dub to dancehall and  dub – all with a present-day twist to keep the bass bins rumbling and the people skanking. Both volumes will be available in both vinyl and digital format, so there’s no excuse to miss out!

Volume 2 is laced with an amalgamation of characters from the Reggae/Hiphop/Soul scene, featuring  the likes of Kojo Neatness , Gardna, El Fata, Dub Princess, Tenor Youthman, Takeyce-Ti, MonkeyJhayam, ManeceLive or Greg Blackman in his soulful roots tune Clean Up.  Among a plethora of sublime productions, with throwbacks to the old sounds of early reggae, roots and rub-a-dub, there’s the highly anticipated anthem Issues (previously released on Bun Dem  Riddim), with none other than the mighty YT on microphone duties . Keep an ear out for the remix of Chainska Brassika’s Knowledge Is King (featuring Tom Spirals);  there’s some serious stepping to be done to this riddim. The closing track for this volume is more than worthy of a mention,  as  Space manages to deliver a transcendentally meditative dub vibe to bring the record to a close in a suitable fashion.  

Volume 3 serves to retain Dreadsquad’s core values – their attitude towards mash-ups and remixes, their roots in all that is reggae – whilst also providing a sound that is refreshing, original, and showcases some of the finest up & coming talent.  Whereas Volume 2 remains much more true to its roots, Volume 3 turns up the heat and brings the heat to the dance. Once again, the LP is littered with artists who are soon to be on everyone’s radar. Skarra Mucci, Zico MC, Jman, Charlie P, Million Stylez, need we say more? Riddim Machine Vol. 3 is chocked full of edits and remixes guaranteed to start a fire in any venue. The legendary Papa Michigan’s Nice Up The Dance is flipped on its head, with just the right amount of amen breaks and Reese bass to keep any junglist’s gun fingers in the air. Get Away revolves around a display of lyrical wizardry from MenaceLive, Jman and Zico MC in true cypher style. Charlie P makes a special appearance for the digi-dancehall smasher That Is Life, complete with classic 80s orchestral hits reminiscent of the foundation fashion. This one’s a dubplate; you should feel blessed to hear it!

VP Records and Greensleeves Records continue to supply key catalog titles on 45 rpm 7-inch and 12-inch vinyl, including:

The first ever appearance on a 7-inch 45 rpm single of Gregory Isaacs "Storm" (VP9640), one of the few of the ‘rhythm foundation’ tracks that never had a 7-inch pressing until now.

Sylford Walker’s 1975 rockers anthem “Burn Babylon,” produced by the late duo of Joe Gibbs and Errol Thompson, presented on a reproduction of the original Belmont label 45 (VP9542).

The title track to Johnny Osbourne’s magnificent 1982 Greensleeves LP Never Stop Fighting is now available in its first legitimate 7-inch release (VP9633). 

Also from the vast catalog of producer Henry Junjo Lawes is a 7-inch single of Billy Boyo’s herb anthem “One Spliff A Day,”recently sampled in DJ Khaled’s recent track “Holy Mountain.”

Look out for more catalog vinyl reissues from VP/Greensleeves/17 North Parade before the summer is out.

Born 1959 in the Hills of Manchester near Mandeville Bionic grow up togeher with 6 sisters & 5 brothers. He loved to sing along old nursery ryhmes and soul/ rnb songs on the radio from childhood days. His first own experience performing in front of a crowd was in the early 80s on local soundsystems such as "Wa-Dat Sound", "King Massive" & "Black Starliner".
His talent was obvious so he started recording dubplates for those sounds which lead him to his first official release song in 1984, entiteled "Flush up your Lighters" on the "Total Sounds" Label.
During the late 80s he recorded a substantial amount of other 45s which include "Love sweet Love", "Youths in the Ghetto" (which was used on scotish TV) and "Two Big Sounds", his most reknown clashtune to be found on youtube now.
In 1993 Bionic got the first overseas experience on a 6 month Japan-Tour with "Vintage Band". After this great success he continued recording, singing on dubplates & soundsystems.
Two outstanding songs from those recordings in the late 90s include a combination with Terry Linen called "Guide me JahJah" (Shelter Rec.) & the cover of Dennis Brown song "Silluette".
Due to lack of Label & distribution support Bionik did not have any further releases after 95 up to today, never the less he continued to evolve his singing & writing skills with regular visits at his hmebase "Shelter Studio" in Mandeville/ Jamaica.

Just 2 years ago in 2012 Bionic and his long time friend, bassplayer and engineer Oswald "IG" Gordon teamed up with german music manager Lennart "Lenny Roots" Tacke to re-activate the career of this singer .
After couple of new recordings for Tom Chasteen from LA Dubclub (StoneThrow Records) and "Dubvisionist" from Hannover/ Germany the team is now ready to come public...
