The Night of the Candle Clock

The candle burns, the shadows dance
The night is long, the moon is bright
I think of tales of ancient lands
Where gods and heroes fought and died

I see the dragon in the sky
The ruler of the four seas
He breathes the clouds and makes the rain
But cannot stop the sun's decree

I hear the phoenix in the wind
The symbol of rebirth and grace
She sings the songs of harmony
But cannot change the world's fate

I feel the turtle in the earth
The guardian of the mountain gate
He bears the weight of heaven and hell
But cannot slow the time's rate

The candle fades, the dawn arrives
The night is gone, the day is new
I leave behind the myths and legends
And face the reality that is true

This was my final project for Boston University Tanglewood Institute Electroacoustical Workshop, 2024.  Originally recorded in 5.1 Surround Sound, this is a stereo mix.  Best experience with headphones.
