The Zugazug.

As the sound of the zugazug reverberates through the air, it becomes a sonic force to be reckoned with. The slow, dubby rhythm is both hypnotic and mesmerizing, drawing you into a world of deep, sub-low frequencies that resonate through your very being.
As the DJ begins to spin, the sound of the zugazug becomes the set's centrepiece. It starts slowly and steadily, building in intensity and power with each passing moment. The bass is heavy, almost tangible, pulsing through the crowd and drawing them closer to the speakers.
The beats are sparse and deliberate, perfectly timed to accentuate the rolling, dubby rhythm of the zugazug. The subfrequencies are so low that you can feel them in your bones, sending energy shockwaves through your body.
As the set continues, the sound of the zugazug becomes all-consuming, filling your mind with a kaleidoscope of abstract and mind-bending imagery. It's as if the sound has taken on a life of its own, twisting and turning, warping and morphing with each passing moment.
The crowd is entranced, lost in a sea of deep, rolling bass and hypnotic rhythm. There is no escape from the sound of the zugazug, no way to resist its magnetic pull. It is the ultimate dub experience, slow and deliberate, yet rolling.
And as the set comes to a close, the sound of the zugazug slowly fades away, leaving a lingering sense of awe and wonder. It was a journey through the depths of sound, a mind-bending trip that will stay with you long after the last note has faded away.

For the next interpretation of Far Blue, we have Belgium's Kim Kenis who has carefully weaved together a selection of tracks that represents a more clubby perspective of the concept. Recollecting dance moves. The podcast was made so you could move, as the set was recorded on Kim's home setup when she came back from a night out in Amsterdam. The mood was there, the flow as well. 

We are very much looking forward to having Kim and her flow over on the 24th of May for Pintai x Far Blue at Borisov, but for now we'll be enjoying this glimpse of what's to come.

Firstly, thanks to Dj wiggles for the opportunity to contribute to the Kinetic series <3

The mix is experimental and long-form, exploring ambient meditative selections as well as darker bass-heavy and textured tracks from across the bpm spectrum, with several tracks warped far from their original bpm. The pace, mood and energy fluctuate. Some tracks emerge quickly, like intrusive thoughts or distractions, others are  given more time to breathe merging into the mix more subtly. This reflects the often unpredictable and challenging nature of losing and regaining a sense of presence and control. The mix has a symbolic cyclical nature, returning to particular percussive sounds and motifs as it progresses. 

Many philosophies motivate me to DJ including the belief everything is connected to the collective and sound exists at that intersection, it is a universally connecting force that exists at the boundaries where mind and body meet the world. All creative practices are intrinsically informed by the personal experiences of their creator/s. This imbues them with narrative and gives them the potential for human connection at these boundaries. 

The title of the mix “decompression” alludes to the pursuit of emotive release. It is a response to life at present - from harrowing world events, to personal challenges and introspection. I hope people enjoy and connect with it, perhaps finding some peace of mind by its end.

𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐮𝐬 𝐚 𝐛𝐢𝐭 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐞 𝐬𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬, 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐝𝐢𝐝 𝐢𝐭 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭’𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐚 𝐛𝐞𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐭?
I started the Fortune Sessions nights in 2019. Before then I threw a lot of house parties. When I had to move into a house unsuitable for big gatherings I began looking for a venue. 

The Fortune of War is a venue located on Brighton beach. It has an intimate dance floor space indoors for winter events and then a big outdoor space for parties in summer. It’s well-loved by locals, with a friendly and laid-back vibe. For a grassroots night it felt like the perfect fit. 

The first session went well but then Covid hit just before the second event was due to happen. I was disappointed but it gave me time to develop the aim and concept behind the events. I also acquired a better sound system to power them. The second session finally took place in March 2022 and two years on I’m preparing for the 15th!

The Fortune Sessions have always had a multi-genre format with a commitment to diversity behind the decks, and a low-key unpretentious vibe. The venue being a pub rather than a club means that the events draw a crowd of dedicated ravers as well as people just out for a good time. Not everyone who enjoys dance music vibes with the club environment, so I’m glad to be able to platform niche genres in an unintimidating space to a wider audience. The nights being free entry also means its more accessible, giving the opportunity for new musical discovery. On a few occasions I’ve been asked “what IS this music??” by people on the dancefloor.

The sprawling canopy of the banyan tree, with its aerial roots reaching down to the earth, symbolizes the diverse landscape of my musical exploration within this mixtape. Much like the banyan's ability to thrive in various environments, from dense forests to urban landscapes, my mixtape traverses through a multitude of electronic music genres. From the deep, atmospheric beginnings reminiscent of the shaded undergrowth to the vibrant crescendos akin to sunlit clearings, the mixtape mirrors the adaptability and resilience of the banyan tree.

Van Morph is a restless spirit that has been around since the early 90's as a clubber but also as a listener. In the mid 90's his love for electronic music brought him close to the desire to learn the art of DJing. With this initiation, he officially began his journey in the field of the music industry. 

He is Co-Owner / Founder of the record Labels Khoros Records, Eurynome Records and Chronos Records, continues to this day to share his musical concerns since music for him is a way of life, a choice that has determined to this day his course so far. His style changes and reshapes from time to time and that does not make him boring.

His music is characterized by dancing bass lines and psychedelic accompaniments while other times his dub mood with various percussions and melodies show the other side of him.

Bio Bird

Born  in the Swiss mountains during the early Seventies, Bird was strongly influenced through radio and his parents' collection from an early age and ultimately developed a strong fascination for music. 
Just how much music means to him, what his influences are and his developments as a DJ have already been elaborately captured in various biographies in the past and would merely lead to yet another repetition of every other DJs life. 
That Bird has spent numerous years as a DJ in clubs around Switzerlands capital, as well as a vinyl dealer and store owner of SchwarzMarktMusic and recently joined the Sirion Records Crew is nevertheless noteworthy but delivers no further insight to his person per se.  
If you want to experience Bird, then follow him to his gigs and be captured by his definition of different styles of house music, instead of reading yet another DJs bio...

Bio Nhoj Smada

Nhoj Smada is, alongside Bird and Pat Muvembe, the youngest alter ego that Pat has acquired due to the wide range of music in his repertoire.
Under this name he focuses on more minimal sound structures in the microhouse, dub influenced house and breaks genres.
In addition to looking for vinyl, he also dabbles in music production under this name and has already produced remixes for David Labeij or Spacebox 720.

Bio Pat Muvembe

Pat Muvembe aka Bird is a sort of an institution when it comes to electronic music in Switzerland’s capital city.

DJing since the early 90ies with gigs in some historical Swiss venues as the Alte Markthalle in Bern or Love Zoo in Neuchatel, he was also vinyl dealer and owner of the "Schwarz Markt" record store - one of the very few we ever had in our city.  As one of the minds behind Sirion Records and long-time radio presenter in the now discontinued legendary radio show Galaxy Space Night on the local station RaBe. Through all those experiences and years of dedication, Pat achieved an overwhelming musical knowledge.

As Pat Muvembe, he dedicate himself to different music directions like Chillout, Balearic, Funk, Soul, Disco, House and knowing no boundaries and just following the heart. 
Just relax and enjoy music for your mind, body and soul.
