This week's Source to Cycle comes from André Hommen.  Original from Nettetal in Germany, André was inspired by the radio shows broadcasting over the local airwaves, opening up his ears to the house music sound, and influencing his move behind the turntables to hone his craft.

André is widely known as one of the crew at Dennis Ferrer's Objektivity label,  helping the develop the careers of Ferrer, Argy, Martinez Brothers, and finding the time to also develop his own production style and DJ career.  Releases on Objektivity and Plastic City have wetted his appetite to further his production career, so we look forward to some future music from him.

This album introduces a new twenty-two year old artist named Mara Hruby from Oakland, CA. She arrived on the scene at the start of 2010, playing shows throughout the Bay Area, and is releasing her debut EP, From Her Eyes. Mara has worked on this album for the past nine months; she has applied her multi-talented dedication to recording, arranging, and engineering her own work. She has performed on stage, dancing and backing other artists in the Bay Area; unconsciously preparing herself for this path. She has chosen to speak through music in order to connect with those of us who love music. 

These seven tracks represent the genesis of the view “From Mara’s Eyes” of the various works of her favorite male artists. Each song is connected to a memory experience in Mara’s young life. The beauty and elegance of Van Hunt’s “Character,” Bob Marley’s love of Jah, Mos Def’s soulful poetry, André “3000” Benjamin’s “Take Off Your Cool,” as well as D’Angelo’s “Send It On” – are all examples of art forms from today’s exceptional musicians.

"Balkan Dancehall" takin' over" was the slogan, the prediction and the promise we made one year ago, when the original "Yu Go! Riddim" album was released. Today, 7 singles, 5 videos, +40 official and about 60 nonofficial cuts later EMIR "YOUTHMAN" KOBILICs debut production turned into a kind of "Sleng Teng Riddim" of the new millenium and made it's way once around the world.

We choose Artistes from 3 continents and 10 countries for the "Yu Go! World Wide Riddim" album including 4 performers from the motherland of Dancehall Jamaica: The already single released GENERAL DEGREE and HAWKEYE long time label affiliates WARD 21 and comedian SANI SHOWBIZZ.
