FALSE LENT AND PAGAN FESTIVALS

LENT
Among the many errors which crept in after the Apostles died was Lent and its false connection with the sufferings and crucifixion of Christ. It is supposed to represent the forty days of fasting of Christ in the wilderness. However, the people do not fast as Christ did but they only give up one or several things which they like, or sometimes do not like. If they really wanted to commemorate the death and suffering of Christ they would fast the entire forty days. Christ nowhere in the Bible tells us to commemorate the forty days of fasting as an annual church festival.

In earlier times it was only adhered to by the Catholic Church and those churches that were closely connected to it in religious form. However, the celebration has reached such popularity until now even some of those who claim Pentecostal ties announce their holy week services. Lent could not even begin to compare with those forty terrible days which God spent proving that He could live without yielding to temptation, because in most cases those who keep it, when tempted hard enough, will quickly get what they want. But we find, Jesus, when the devil came to tempt Him again and again, He would rebuke him. We find on one occasion when He had become hungered, the devil came to Him and showed Him the stones, which were in Jerusalem and closely resembled bread. The devil boldly told him “If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.” Matthew 4:3.
Jesus answered him saying “It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.” Matthew 4:4.

The devil showed the Lord the kingdoms of the world and the glory of them, but He would not lower His testimony to the children of men for worldly goods and a morsel of food.
The Bible does not at all endorse Lent, it is only a tradition devised out of carnal intentions of men. It has no place in the Church of God. Lent was established at the council of the Catholic Church at Nicaea, 325 A.D. but was not well instituted until the middle of the fourth century. It was near this time that the birth of Jesus was celebrated on December 25th, first in Rome, and before the end of the centrury, it was celebrated in the East also. The actual meaning of the word Lent, comes from the Latin lengthen, lencten, meaning spring. It denotes the spring period of fasting in preparation for Easter; in the Western Catholic Church, a penitential period extending from Ash Wednesday to Easter. Some writers associate it to the middle ages.

PALM SUNDAY
Toward the end of this vain worship is a week known as Holy Week, which lasts from Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday. Palm Sunday is usually distinguished by the wearing of palm. They say this is derived from the time when Jesus entered into Jerusalem, the people spread their garments in the way and others cut down branches of the trees and strewed them in the way. They went before Him and followed Him crying, “Hosanna; Blessed is He that cometh in the name of the Lord:” Mark 11:8-9.

Quick note from sermon: The late Apostle Bishop S.C. Johnson is blessed of God to make an eye-opening point for all of us, how Apostle Peter was there when Jesus said “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.” • And on the day of Pentecost, Peter told them to repent, and be baptized everyone of you in the name of *Jesus Christ for the remission of sins—Bishop states, NOT one of the eleven apostles there rose up and said: Peter, you're wrong. Jesus said, baptize in the name of the Father, Son, and The Holy Ghost. Bishop says, their understanding was opened (Luke 24:45). They consented with Peter. Apostle Peter stood up with the eleven and he was their mouthpiece, he divulged their sentiment. 

How true that is, if Apostle Peter was wrong, it would have been recorded in the Bible, he would have been questioned. God manifested the truth always. Apostle Paul was recorded withstanding Peter later on, and Peter saw his own error. Peter is recorded in 2 Peter 3:15, commending Paul's teachings.

Bishop states: It is impossible to have it right, unless you get it just like the apostles preached it—they were the ones that God Almighty gave the gospel to.

Thank God again, on this sermon much wisdom was brought to the hearers. In the beginning Bishop states if someone doesn’t want light, then you know something is wrong with them. He brings the words of JESUS in John 3:21 “But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.”

Bishop declares he can answer for all the apostles today, how Peter could tell them all and so could he, and any God-sent preacher could. He states how even Apostle Paul said he showed us all things.

If God had an hundred they all would have to speak the same thing.

Later you'll hear: "Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment." • 1 Corinthians 1:10

Bishop says if you don't like what Peter had to say, and asked another, they would say the same as Peter, and if you asked another they would say like those two said and so on. Thank God this is so true. Bishop states "Peter is gone now, and I am here". One may want to ask Bishop "What are you saying?", his reply was and would still be “What Peter is said".

Delightfully, we can say Bishop Johnson preached what the apostles preached.

Eventually, You will hear Bishop bring this scripture which Apostle Paul tells how God gave him the same gospel he gave to Apostle Peter: “(For he that wrought effectually in Peter to the apostleship of the circumcision, *the same was mighty in me toward the Gentiles:)” • Galatians 2:8

Some questioned Bishop Johnson being the only one right—as he said many times, he *never said he was the only apostle, but that he had the only thing, so if there was another one right, then they would have to be like him. 

Within this sermon you will hear Acts 1 verse 2, Acts 2 verses 37-38, Luke 24 verses 44-45, 1 Corinthians 1 verse 10, Galatians 1 verse 8, Isaiah 2 verse 3, and 1 Kings 18 verses 22 etc are given to support his statement. With the help of God, this sermon is very plainly understood, showing that there is only one way.


Natural examples are used as well to make the point, for ex: (5+5=10) and all of us should get the same answer.

BELIEVERS BE ENCOURAGED, THE PROMISE IS FOR YOU TOO!

This precious sister never heard the gospel Bishop Johnson preached, but after being told what little was shared with her, she took the chance to go after the promise, not fully sure, but was looking for a change deep within. She got baptized according to Acts 2:38 on April 20, 2019 and testified of receiving the Holy Ghost April 22nd 2019. And for every one of us, the thing to do is continue in the apostles’ doctrine like the Bible tells us (Acts 2:42), which Bishop S.C. Johnson's recordings give to you. 

In this case, this sister knew she had it back on April 22nd 2019, but prayed here July 26th 2019 for any doubt to be put to rest and to have a witness. There was a witness present in the home with her (as you may hear a knob turn in the restroom *background noise*). 

Note: WE DO NOT know what language(s) she spoke. Someone in the earth does.

This is a witness that this soul received the same gift as they did on the day of Pentecost, and as souls still receive today and shall. The Bible says “prove all things”.

May God bless every hearer to understand again, although this was not the first day this sister received the Holy Ghost, she was not speaking unlawfully, this day came by prayer with the purpose of having a witness. Remember, they had witnesses on the day of Pentecost: “Acts 2:6 Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language.” 
“Acts 2:8 And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?” “Acts 2:11 […] we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God.”


Since then, if she would speak in the congregation or presence of someone, there should be an interpreter: “1 Corinthians 14 verses 27 If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at the most by three, and that by course; and let one interpret. 28 But if there be no interpreter, let him keep silence in the church; and let him speak to himself, and to God.”

Wonderful to have instructions through the word of God, by the late man of God, Apostle Bishop S.C. Johnson.

This last sermon (which begins 23:37) was at The Ward Theatre, in Jamaica, British West Indies; Bishop Johnson declared once more that there is ONE LORD and JESUS CHRIST IS HE!! God knows he used Bishop Johnson mightily, and God gave him a true "Inner Luv" for the souls of mankind, as our Jamaican people say, meaning "appreciation". It was a glorious end to his life, to deliver his last sermon to the human family on February 17th and then pass away on February 22nd 1961 in Jamaica (as far as the record notates); this man from Tillery, North Carolina, who God made a defense of the gospel, and a father of many nations, did like the Holy Ghost said through Apostle Paul read in 1 John chapter 3 verse 16: “Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.”

Greetings! Glory to God for this timely recording for our generations; it served well when the Apostle Sherrod preached it, and since it has been traveling through time, it serves whoever will hear. He tells how the devil has given everyone religion, and how people will say “I have mine”. Bishop SC Johnson being led of the Spirit brings our attention to the “one way” and how to run lawfully to obtain the prize. 

This lawful way caused the apostle to be hated, which he will speak to on this sermon.
