Artista ng bayan, isulong at ipaglaban ang pambansang wika!

Natapos man ang pagdiriwang ng Buwan ng Wika ngayong Agosto, walang humpay pa rin na ipagpapatuloy natin ang pagsulong ng pambansa’t makabayang wika!

Sa ilalim ng neoliberal at malakolonyal na sistema, ilang daang taon man ang nakalipas ay nananatili ang impluwensiya ng imperyalistang US sa ating edukasyon, pananalita, sining, at kulturang popular na nagdudulot ng unti-unting pagkalimot sa mga kinagawiang sariling kultura na nagpapaalab sa mga tunay na damdaming makabayan. 

Handog ng Musicians for Peace ang cover ng kantang “Speak in English Zone” ni Joel Costa Malabanan, kung saan ito'y sumasalamin sa ilang dekadang paghawak ng US sa pulitika, ekonomya, at kultura ng Pilipinas.

Noon hanggang ngayon, ipinapataw ng US ang paggamit ng wikang Ingles sa ngalan ng globalisasyon, ngunit nakikita natin na ang tunay na dahilan nito ay para maging alipin ang mamamayang Pilipino at magsilbi lamang tayo sa dayuhang kapitalista.

Kaya, mga artista, iskolar ng bayan kasama ang manggagawa’t iba pang sektor ng mamamayan, sama-sama tayo sa patuloy na pagpapahalaga sa kayamanan ng sarili nating wikang Pilipino–kasabay rin ang iba’t ibang rehiyonal na lenggwahe, sapagkat ang paggamit at pagbunyi nito ay isa sa pamamaraan ng pagtatanggol sa ating pambansang soberanya at paglaban para sa pagpapalaya ng bayan mula sa imperyalistang bansa!
